Yea i didn't want to give out too much as it was more pure curiosity so didn't mind if the valuation wasn't close to spot on just a rough valuation but am pretty happy with the number you gave since you seem to be pretty good with your valuations!

Just 1 question the 'relative lack of history' is that just another term for saying the site is still very much in its infancy? On the site's 5th day of launch we got 600k pageviews and 50k Visitor's. And every year the site gets a huge pump of new traffic for a solid month with no work required at all. The weekly running of the site ca be 1-2 hours a week. We need to provide a link every Wednesday that the site automates and then do 20m of data entry that night but apart from that the site runs itself for 11 months then a game update comes which requires importing some SQL then it's good for another year! I might hit you up if i look into doing something with the site in terms of flipping it, thanks again for your valuation

Lack of history is entirely due to age, yes. You may have got a ton of traffic early on, but there is no history to show that is sustainable. If you keep that traffic up for a year, there is obviously significantly less risk for a buyer.

Sounds like a good deal if you're getting steady payments. Some buyers would prefer Adsense, but if you're making significantly more with a private advertiser, then it would be stupid to switch. If you could get a commitment from them to renew the agreement that would help the sales price significantly.

Probably looking around $50k. It could be a challenge to sell, though, as in all my time brokering I haven't come across too many French (speaking or native) buyers.

Maybe up to $15k, depending on niche and quality of the site.

But what I was getting at is, do people generally value the potential of a site as opposed to what it is earning currently. eg facebook used to earn nothing but the coding and potential of the site was big.

My directory is custom built, much like yellow pages but hasn't been marketed or had allot of seo...

Most sites on flippa are cheap to setup like a wordpress site selling some affiliate stuff. My site is completely different.

Buyers don't value potential, no. You might get lucky and find someone who does but it highly unlikely and even if they did they would have no need to pay more than the market price.

Hello meathead, I have a german/english site the site is avaible in both languages and get about 200k UV/Month and makes about ~4-6k€ per month, I monetize with adsense.
The Traffic is 89% from google 1%social 10% direct traffic, The sites are both 2 years old and are high authority, there is only need to update content,It's about 2 hours work per day.
What could I get for it? And how hard would it be to find a buyer?

There is allot of junk on flippa, I think more business minded people who are looking to expand something do see potential in sites.

I don't understand allot of the figures on flippa either:

1. Sites around for 6 months claiming they earn $1500 a month getting sold for $2500
2. A site earning $45000 a month getting sold for $75000

The list goes on.

If a site is earning such good figures why on earth would you sell it for 1-2 months earnings???? That sounds ridiculous to me, it's like giving money away, or a scam.

I've sold around $7,000,000 in sites in the last few years (only a few on Flippa) and I deal with plenty of "business" minded people. Business minded people do NOT pay for potential. The odd idiot on Flippa might do, but serious buyers do not. Even if they did see potential, they wouldn't pay more than a normal multiple.

Flippa is full of scams. Obviously no-one legitimate would sell a genuine site for 2 months earnings.

Of course business minded people pay for potential, that's how most large sites get off the ground in the first place, you need money to make money, they get funding based on the potential someone sees. Most of the flippa wordpress niche sites are not what I'm talking about in this case so your right, they wouldn't pay for potential on a site about abc widgets hoping one day it will earn.

If i have a site that generates 100 new real world brick n mortar local business signups a day, then having the contact name and details of those local business owners is very valuable to a web design and seo company, it's constant source of free lead generation. That is worth something to the right buyer, if they know what to do with it... It is probably not worth something to people on flippa looking for a quick buck adsense site, (that will probably be earning next to nothing in 6 months, considering most of them have no solid track record of past income). I know there's some good sites on flippa, but most of them are built for a quick buck, do a few bhw blasts, show some stats for the past month then flip it. That poor guy then wonders why he's earning nothing in a few months.

Silly me only realised that's a good way to make some money Bugger it, im going to register some domains, grab some good content then start blasting.

I also haven't done any SEO or backlinking for the past 4 months.

Depends how much time you spend on it. If no time at all, somewhere around $1000. If you spend time on it, it's probably not worth much.
