Just wondering, what is the best/fastest way to increase page rank?

Also, how often does google update the toolbar page rank, on average?

Pagerank updates are usually run every quarter of the year that is once in 3 months. The fastest way is to buy high PR do follow backlinks but the best way is to get those backlinks from high pr pages from domains that are related to your niche.

^^ thanks mate, exactly what I was looking for :-) time to start building then:-)

that page rank calculation does not work, by the way. What, if I get only one PR8 link my site will get PR6?..If it was that easy we would all have PR7-8 sites

How accurate is that?

99.999%

J/K. I don't work for Google so I don't really know the exact numbers. That table is obtained from kenkai.com and is used for illustration purpose only but should give you a general idea(if you're a newbie to SEO) of how PageRank works.

Increasing page rank is not a simple process. It involves to combination of techiniques for a site or a blog. You should follow some the following steps
1. high quality content
2. quality backlink
3. updated content
4. using relevant keywords
5. guest posting
6. social bookmarking

Just bulid quality and relavent backlinks to your domain. Remember, not too much at one time. Good luck.

So, if I would like to have PR 8, I need to have 2795522 links from PR1 websites OR just 1 link from PR10 website???
Oh my God, does it really work?... I doubt...

Even if you were 70% Right on your points,It seems that you have no idea why each of thous are required.
I don't see how using relevant keywords will raise your PR,HQ content, you're getting close.

Easiest way is to redirect your domain to a high PR site. Your domain will adapt the same PR. However, this fake PR will be reversed as quickly as it comes, but it may stay long enough to sell your site to a noob.

Here are some tips for it :

1. Get some Actual Page Rank Blog Comments ...Try to find blogs which have less OBL
2. Get some High Page Rank HOME Page links
3. Make some High PR WEB 2.0 site with unique content and link to your money site. Further build some links for those Web 2.0
sites.

Normally Google updates its PR in every 3 months, Last PR update was in the first week of Feb, So next should hit us in June First week Ideally..

No, it won't

It will raise the theme of the site though - so ultimately, the rankings of the site

Using irrelevant keywords, or linking from unrelated sites, will of course harm your site's theming

What if I have many backlinks from google.com which is PR10 :p

Here's a guide:
1 pr6 link = pr4
3 pr6 links = pr5
18 pr6 links = pr6

You can work out the other pr values for yourself

I got this from somebody who's done extensive testing - make of it what you will - I'm not going to argue with anybody about it

Edit: I posted this without looking at the table - it confirms what the table says - so I guess the table is accurate

Yes. But that's based on real PR, not the toolbar PR we see.

People in this thread really need to understand that the toolbar that is displayed in plugins etc. and is visible (not to mention easily manipulated), can be completely different to the real PageRank, of which only Google sees.

Why people refer to the toolbar PR for things anyway is beyond me. There are so many better metrics to judge a page's potential strength by. PA/DA, ACRank etc.

Don't start in this topic again, it's older than the chicken and egg story.

Anyway, thanks for all comments.

Reason for my question is that I have a small plan to make some money - build a website in decent niche, build a few back links to get my pr up, then sell guest posts on fiverr.

I have done this previously and made around $500 with the last site, which I sort of did by accident with a failed MNS project. So now I'm trying to replicate that.

PR normally updates every 3 months. Acquiring backlinks from high authority sites with good amount of PR will increase your webpage's PageRank.
