Depends on what the top websites are. If you see like Wikipedia and retail stores when you search it then its a fairly low chance you can beat them.

If the commercial intent (your audience in that niche is interested in buying..) is reasonably good, I'd say GO for it.

I wouldn't rely on the "competition low". Check out the Top10 and see if there are some sites with low backlinks and authority that you can beat easily

Are you sure you're checking the exact searches and not broad?

One of the biggest mistakes newcomers make is not knowing the difference between broad and exact search. Broad search is the default in Adwords. You need to uncheck broad search (and phrase search) and check only exact search on the left-hand side of your adwords KW tool page, and then do your KW research.

Ok thanks a lot, the keyword has 110.000 searches a month and it writes Medium competition. The second page in google search is wikipedia and there is also sourceforge page. Could I rank this? It's pretty much perfect for clickbank sales but I don't know you guys tell me, as I said I'm pretty new to these stuff.

I don't know if you know guys, but the competition mentioned is in the adveretising not in the SERP how most of the people think.

I saw that you PM:ed me, but sorry, I'm not really a "SEO guy". I just know that you gotta search for exact searches and not broad.

Why don't you try to spen some time. Is it your first time you try to get into Google top 10?

Check if competitors that in google top have the keyword in title, urls.
Does competitor's inner site pages have links to the page they have in google top with the keyword in anchor text?
Is in Google top results articles or homepages of websites?

You can't just rely on those stats..you have to really check to see whether there is any real buyer intent for your niche.

Don't just copy your competitors also. You must find a way to be different.

How can you do so? Speak with anybody within that niche...a person you found on a blog or forum.

Start asking them questions. Ask them what they like or don't like about current service/product offerings.

Ask them what the niche is lacking.

Then, decide...is it a good niche?
