I just want to update my situation... I had a site that was basically dead from some stupid linking I did in 2009 and forgot about. MarketMongoose spent 2 weeks with me (i took my time thinking) consulting and advising me about what strategy we should implement. We brainstormed and came up with a plan and implemented it. To be clear, yes MarketMongoose is a package based service company, but part of that is talking with you and analyzing your site's history, on and offpage SEO so they can advise the best steps forward, and if applicable, give you some tasks to do to enable their services to help you.

Anyway I've been a customer since Dec 2012... I'll let the chart talk. I'm now using them with multiple sites. Sorry in advance for how tall these images are...

5 Month Review of Market Mongoose

So I got in with Market Mongoose when they were rather new -- their ideology looked promising and after talking with them on Skype, I decided to let them have a go in trying to rank my client's website. 5 months later (as of this moment), I'm sorry to say, but my rankings have all drastically dropped (monitored by Spyfu).

When I first signed up with them, I was a little hesitant as to how much success they would have in trying to rank a website that was in a multi-million dollar industry; we were on the lowest plan for $249/mo. For the fourth month, we upgraded to their Platinum Plan for $549/mo with the Valentines offer of a free month; seemed like a good deal. Unfortunately, I never heard from them about my PRWeb press release, I'm not even sure if it went out (maybe the free month voided the PRWeb release).

Throughout the five months, I saw my rankings fluctuate constantly, however there was never a point where any of the main keywords which I actually provided for the campaign ranked even within the top 100; one keyword got within top 200. It was all the lower end, long tail keywords that fluctuated in rankings consistently in the first ten pages of Google (now nowhere to be seen), but this site always ranked for those odd keywords so this was nothing new.

They did send me link reports when requested, but not all of the links were actually there. I did not get many likes / tweets to my URL's and stopped receiving social signal reports as well. Most importantly, myGoogle +1'sconstantly fluctuated on my URL's; it would rise and drop like crazy, which is NOT good for rankings (even though when I asked them, they told me it was normal and part of the campaign). I really doubt me losing 10 Google +1's in one day (either from fake accounts or for whatever other reason), is good for my website especially when there are only like 30-40 +1's to begin with. The chart is for historical rankings of one of the main keywords I provided, but all of them look like that pretty much so I didn't want to print screen all of them.

main1.pngrankings4.pngrankings3.pngrankings2.pngrankings1.png

As you can see above, ALL my rankings have completely vanished. After checking the rankings, I decided to see what these guys were doing. It seems all the backlinks they were creating were getting deleted because they were just spammy. I even had someone contact my client at one point about someone leaving a spam comment on their blog -- which I strictly advised Market Mongoose not to do. Anyways, the Ahrefs screenshot is below, you can see for yourself:

ahrefs.png

When did my campaign with them end? April 21st 2013 (that's today) and already my # of referring domains has been in a constant decline (keep in mind I've been on their Platinum package). This website used to have 500+ referring domains prior to Market Mongoose, now it shows 695; they've supposedly built 195 links in 5 months (195 domains). This number is steadily declining as you can see above. All in all, I've paid these guys over $1000 to see results like this, not very happy. I'd hope at least the links would stick, but nope. Throughout the whole campaign, the site lost just as many backlinks everyday as it gained (checked on new/lost on Ahrefs.com).

I have a second client with them that's just paused their campaign, they seem to be doing a little better with that client but still barely any backlinks as monitored by Ahrefs. All in all, my client did not see any results from this campaign; no increase in sales or any significant ranking improvements (especially now where all rankings are dead). I never really had high hopes for them succeeding in ranking a website that is in such an expensive niche, but seeing the quality of backlinks for the price I paid was really disappointing. I am kindly requesting a refund for the services you provided, as you can see, no ranking improvements were made and all the backlinks created were pretty much removed. I know I probably won't receive a refund, which is fine, but your service cost me my client and was a lesson well learned.

Anyways, that's my honest review of Market Mongoose five months later. Their communication was good throughout, but link reports and social signal reports were not consistent (this is not a big deal if you're seeing results); I also do not know if I received any of the bonuses included with the Platinum package (e.g., the Facebook $10 advertising or the group post etc). This review is in no way meant to bash their service as these guys were all extremely friendly.

Hi Hasan,

I did a through audit of your campaign and here is what I found. I will answer your concerns one by one.

Here are your keywords ( web hosting, reseller hosting, domain registration, vps hosting, wordpress hosting). We normally don't disclose the keywords of our clients in public but in your case, since you have posted a long review for which we appreciate your point of view, however it requires us to present our side of the situation too.

As you know these keywords are one of the toughest in the web hosting industry ,these keywords take more than 5 months to rank sometimes an year of SEO and hardwork that too on an authority domain. You signed up for a silver plan, which is the lowest plan MM has to offer and we believe its simply not enough to get such keywords ranked.

Your PRs have been sent every month and I have the reports to prove that, I shall check about the PR Web release too, if its missed it will be sent too. Its sent in the second month for platinums, which is where you were in before you cancelled.

Also I have done a manual link review, and 85% of your links are live. I have attached the link report here, all live links are marked live, you can check yourself.

----link removed---

We have also sent you the social signals report, please check them, if you find any issues let me know. We are still finishing your current month's campaign as the signals are daily drip fed.

If you anymore issues, just contact me on skype, I can resolve them immediately as am online most of the time on skype. Also, please dont forget this service like every other is run by humans and their is possibility of errors, but what makes us different is the will to correct them and provide excellent customer service.

Yup, I know, that's why I specifically posted that this was not meant to bash your service in any way. I know it was a long shot expecting web site rankings for such competitive keywords to rise; but in the last month, almost all my rankings have been killed -- don't know if it was a Google update or what happened.

I don't appreciate you sharing my link report publicly however; so could you please edit that out of your post. Your service has worked better for my second client whose a local business; I just don't think SEO works in such competitive niches such as "web hosting". Most of the links in the report are just PR links; lack of other contextual backlinks. 468 live links (just checked in Scrapebox) but that's including the press release links. Ahrefs is showing a consistent decline of backlinks; and you guys have been the only ones doing SEO for the past five months.

I did not receive a social signal report; still wanting to know whether or not PRWeb release happened (was it written)? Anyways, thanks for five months of service. To anyone wondering whether or not I would recommend their service: you'll never know until you give it a try and they're definitely one of the higher end services on the forum so give it a go!

Thanks, links removed, yes PR Web shall be sent before end of your cycle, just skype me I shall give the PR details.

I wish, we had more time with the webhosting client, as we have had several cases where customers got back to us after some months of work.

one question for the market mongoose experts.
i placed an order in your service.
but i have a question about tags. should i use tags (i mean the wordpress tags that can be added when i post an article) for my articles? or it will create duplicate content? i use all in one seo pack plugin, and i checked the Canonical URLs option, but i dont know if this option will also add the rel=canonical tag to the tags pages. please answer if i should use, how to use tags and if it will be considered duplicate content?

Use all in one seo the way you are utilizing it already, and just turn tags off.

Yeah i have very good settings made to it, also i already have the keywords part turned OFF.
But i mean the Tags from the default wordpress, when you make a post in right sidebar you have the Tags tab, where you cna add tags. Do i need to add relevancy tags to my posts or it will be duplicate content? I have checked up in All In One SEO the canonical urls option, but don't know if adding tags to the posts will rise me on serp and bring more traffic to my website. also entering tags should be dangerous because of duplicate content?

At the moment i have no tags added, because i do only what your team said and says to me to do.
Thanks for the reply.
