I feel you. I'm looking into alternatives because even domain renewals are expensive. GoDaddy has renewal coupons whereas NameCheap doesn't but I don't really like GoDaddy.

If you look at the total cost of domain+whoisGuard then it's cheaper at Namecheap. Seriously, anyone doing IM should afford paying $12 for a year. You don't start with 10 domains, you just need 1.
