What is the point for reseller hosting ?

How could people make money with reseller hosting ? Why would someone buy hosting from you when they can go to a normal website and buy their own hosting with a better offer ?

Many people sell hosting to people that arent familiar with the internet. I used to sell sites on eBay for cheap just to get them on the hosting for $12 a month. Sell a couple hundred sites then you got some good recurring income : ).

Thats the only place I could sell it well.

think about it like this if you had to pay $5 per month for webhosting for each website and you had 10 websites thats $50 a month every month...

why not pay half of that for a basic reseller package and then not be limited to how many sites you can put live or test...

we have a few VPS servers and probably create about 5 to 10 sites easily during a week sometimes daily!

imagine how much time and money it would cost to keep paying to set up each and every account....

Not necessarily. On Hostgator, for instance, they assign a new ip for every 5 accounts you set up on your reseller account. You can put numerous domains under each account and there is no cost to setting up accounts in your reseller account as long as you have the available bandwidth.

No you usually only get a couple of IPs but you can add as many as you want for a buck or two a month per account. It doesn't cost anything to create a new domain on the reseller account apart from the cost of the domain itself when it is registered.

Hmmm so basically its like running my own hosting, I set the prices per month and for each domain right ? And set how much bandwith and space each account has?

Is there a reseller account where you can set unlimited bandwith and such ? cause the ones i found are just like 24gb hard disk space and that's a bit if your going to host a lot of websites on it...

i personally prefer and have my own dedicated server.
I do website design and host all my clients on it.

Dedicated server gives me the freedom of installing anything i want, doing one full backup instead of backing up each site individually etc.

reseller hosting is good to give hosting to yourself for other projects etc.

it'll work out cheaper in the long run, plus, you can sell it etc if you need to!

Check out heart reseller hosting, looks good, think i'm going to give them a go, they ae unlimited bar a server usage limit to each site which is your customers problem, not yours, heart will simply shutoff their site.

No you will have a problem, If you use up too much of a resource they cut you off.

This is common in overselling. There is no such thing as UNLIMITED, it is just more lenient than hitting your limit and your website goes offline. [even if you are not endangering other peoples sites]

I use reseller so i can give access easily to people I have work on my site, and they do not have access to my other sites.
