Journey 2 some cash with local web services

Hey guys I decided Id post a journey here to help keep me motivated and what not. Im 21 and currently attending a college that I hate I cant wait to get a transfer. I worked in retail and fast food before I recently just quit my retail job and decided to devote a majority of my time to IM. I have been reading tons of info since 2011 and I just started putting some of what I learned into practice last year.

My list of goals

• Learn as much about marketable IM techniques as possible
• Buy a Dodge Charger and fix up my chevy Lumina
• Shut up all the pessimists in my life
• Make the girl that chose pizza shop dude over me regret it forever
• Buy my pet turtle a giant tank
• Get wayne brady to sing at my wedding(pending)

What Ive Done so far

• Purchased some domains( product review domain, domain to practice seo with, 2 domains to try out some content locking) All which Ive made no money from lol
• Used facebook pages with a friend of mine to promote Free webcam sites which has made me a couple hundred nothing major
• Made some crappy videos using camtasia and powerpoint to try and promote content locked downloads

My Plans

• Growing the facebook pages to a point where we can send decent sized traffic to a website
• Creating a local web services agency that will offer seo, website creation, youtube marketing, anything else online presence related for local businesses and artists(I live around alot of artists)

I will be adding more tomorrow and definitely plan on updating this every day I do something even remotely significant towards my goals. Please leave comments,tips, hate mail whatever I just like knowing people are reading.

IM is a broad subject and if you can narrow down what you are doing, then I think you'll be fine, just set yourself small targets. Good luck on your journey.

yea I completely agree, I plan on focusing mainly on seo and website creation, I know a good amount of seo and I have dabbled in wordpress enough and seen enough premium themes that Im positive customers would eat right up!

The facebook pages I only focus on now cause theyre already there I wanna mainly focus on the local web service thing and do the fb pages in my spare time

For the businesses I have a process in mind

Step 1: Google a ton of local businesses I see on a daily basis
Step 2: Whichever businesses I see with little to no online presence send them really bright colored or completely black mail offering them my services
Step 3: Depending on results for the mailing campaign shoot any non responsive businesses a call to see if I can make a sale

Same thing with the artists but Ill focus mainly on sending them facebook messages and emails offering my services.

Update: I got my first meeting with a client a local recording studio wants website creation and seo I have a meeting with them Thursday!!! I'm still trying to figure out how much to charge lol

Sweet the meeting went great they want me to make them a website and do really basic seo for them! I explained that for his website I would be using a template and build from that and he was really cool with that. After that I explained SEO to him and he was really surprised that google even worked like that. After learning about it he was instantly willing to try it out.

I charged 500 for the website and the SEO services. Really excited to start this hopefully Ill be able to get some references from him once the project is done!

Update!!!!


I haven't been doing a lot due to school but that ends tomorrow so I'm ready to go.
I have a ton of businesses In my area I'm ready to mail for either web design, Orm, and seo.


I only have one website I have done for a business in my portfolio which is one of the things I'm worried about but ima still give it a shot

I havent been really focused on working but I started to go back into it full time! Now that I have I managed to arrange a meeting with a real estate guy looking for leads. Gonna convince him to get at the very least an seo package but hopefully push as much internet marketing as possible.

Im gonna do a ton of cold calling this morning! I was waiting for a payment to come in so I could do snail mail but I dont have time to be wasting! (I need a new car!) Trying to hit alot of potential ORM clients got a long list ready

Thanks guys did 2 cold calls today was really nervous the first one I absolutely messed up on. The second one I got the gatekeeper they took down my information and said theyd pass it up to the owner who wasn't in at the time; which I guess is better then nothing.

Im still tweaking my script once I have a somewhat decent one Im gonna post it here and see what others think about it.

I felt kinda good after that second one but stopped. I got my transfer acceptance to a college I have been dying to go to today! I really gotta go into overdrive mode now If I want to have any hope of paying for it.
