I just made a few videos on Youtube...

Now should I be focusing on OTHER people's video's that are getting like 30k views a week?? and use their description & tags???

Would you think that'd be the best idea?

No, IMO that's a bad idea, I always advise against copying in any venture like that, because they did it first, they have the views, they have the ratings, the 'links' and the comments, etc., so you're making a poor copy, which gaurentees you'll always be below them in the rankings (and because lots of people copy, you're likely to be well below them in the rankings).

IMO any stratergy that almost certainly leads to guaranteeing that you won't be #1 isn't a great stratergy.

For my $0.02 I'd advise picking relevant tags, relevant to your videos, and to your target audience.

Try and get into the head of the average user, who you want to profit off, and think what words are they going to be using, to search YouTube?

Make your videos at least partially relevant to those words, and use them as your tags, and you should do ok.

.

OP- use powerful tags and incorporate them into your description and title.

Then drive views, ratings, favorites, and comments. About 10K views a day and 40 of each every day for 1 week at least.

You will rise to top.

Also-
Post on Social Bookmarks and Digg the hell out of it.

You will rise to the top if you follow.

Hope I Helped :)

Personally I wouldn't advice copying exactly someones stragegy, first of all your video is newer so you'll never get as good result as the person whose strategy you've copied, secondly it's always best to adjust every strategy individually to each video (it's ok to look at somebody's ideas but don't copy them blindly).

I really don't know how this does make sense to talk about such things in a public forum, Youtube might read as well.

it refers to "search the forum"...

Go to google:
type in "digg"
or type in "social bookmarking"

that should help you!!
