How do you guys host your sites? If you've got 10 AdSense/Amazon/whatever sites, do you host them all with the same hosting company and on the same IP? Or do you separate them? I don't really see the point in separating them since they will all be linked together anyway. It's just that in Google's eyes, won't the Web 2.0 properties, article directories, and in general all the SEO work you do be obvious? After all diversity or not you can only make as much unique links as there are web properties out there. Links other than those of common web properties won't be easy to get.

I used to host all of my domains together but a lot of them got deindexed (mainly 1-10 page sites, some empty domains). None of them had any similarities except for reg info and IP.

Now I use separate shared hosting accounts for everything I do.

I host them together on the same ip and i don't think that hosting together will affect SEO

I have conclusively tested this to be completely false. Sites hosted on the same IP will almost never be shown on the first page together. For a very low comp niche they might, but if there is any competition, you won't get multiple sites together on the first page.

Nowadays I don't care where I host money sites, all on one IP is fine (this is because I don't interlink them). I used to do the whole SEO hosting thing (had 125 class-c IP addresses), the amount of benefit you get isn't worth it.

For your diverse IP address backlinks from a tier-1, just use free blogs.

Edit: I'll also say that I don't typically try to rank multiple sites for the same keywords. i.e. I don't host same-niche-sites on same hosting.

Isn't this like a major hassle? Not only that but it must most definitely be much less cost effective than getting a reseller account.

How do you cope with your accounts?

I had another question in mind, but I lost it.

It's not impossible, I've done it already with a medium competition KW..

I have clusters of websites hosted on different hosting accounts, for now it hasn't had any negative impact on anything for me.

edit: let me correct that, its same hosting account but different registration info...

My niches are mostly low competitive and some sites rank in page #1 as you say so its recommended to host our sites with different host providers ??

I have just about all of my accounts with hostgator...I have one or two accounts with Namecheap.

With Hostgator it's fairly easy to see all of your accounts because they have a billing solution that shows all of your accounts. cPanel login info and FTP info is a pain. All of my sites run wordpress so once I get them set up I don't do much FTP and limited cPanel to check basic awstats.

@GiorgioB - I have a hard time believing this but I would love to be proved wrong. If your willing, PM me a search term that shows two domains on the same IP that is medium comp. You don't need to give me your sites, I'm just wanting to see the phrase.

@Iamablackhatter - I focus on a few major terms and have about 5 sites built for each phrase. There have been times where I'll have 3 domains on the first page for my main money phrase. I stick with Hostgator because I like them, but I do ensure that I don't buy accounts back to back to make sure I get on different servers with different nameservers and different IPs.

I never host two sites for the same niche on the same ip.

That's understandable. But I was thinking along the lines of various niches on the same hosting account with the same IP.

For your diverse IP address backlinks from a tier-1, just use free blogs.

That's the thing. If you've got a cluster of money sites on one reseller account, and all of them have links from free blogs as part of the SEO strategy, won't that look suspicious? It's understandable that there are sites out there which have all sorts of sites linking to them, but I'm pretty sure that free web properties, article directories and so on linking to all your money sites on one hosting account will somehow make all of your sites look funny in the eyes of G. And how else are you going to build your tier 1 backlinks? Of course if you focus on 1 niche and work hard on it you will get unique backlinks with time but if you're working with multiple sites, getting those unique backlinks becomes much harder.

Speaking of which, how do you manage to deal with different registration info? Do you use fake info?

Although very unlikely that anything will happen, I find it quite risky to use fake information when dealing with domain names of value.

Other then that I'm not really sure how else you'd be able to use different registration info. Parents and friends IMO aren't a great option.

No, not fake... i register some at my company's info, some with my personal info, some with my wife(/business partner) info, I have one or two registered to my cousin's name... that usually gives me enough margin to operate.

I also think fake info is a little risky, especially for a money site, wouldn't take that chance to lose everything or have someone else claim it.

Currently, it works. Of course, Google can change at any moment though.

It's understandable that there are sites out there which have all sorts of sites linking to them, but I'm pretty sure that free web properties, article directories and so on linking to all your money sites on one hosting account will somehow make all of your sites look funny in the eyes of G.

It absolutely CAN look funny, if you can call penalties "funny", if you link from low quality free blogs / article directories. By low quality, I mean unmoderated domains with zero PR and zero high quality backlinks to the domain. The average AMR submission, or pligg submission, will toast a new website.

As it turns out, free websites are actually some of the most credible websites you could possibly get backlinks from. Look at http://www.seomoz.org/top500 ... domain moztrust on blogspot is 8.73, domain moztrust on wordpress.com is 8.59, tumblr.com is 8.16, weebly.com is 7.83, webs.com is 7.68, jimdo.com is 7.24, fc2.com is 7.36, tripod.com is 7.71, and on and on ... tons of the sites you can get links from with free blogs are on the top 500 websites.

Which would you rather have, a backlink from a website that is starting out with moztrust of 8.73? Or starting out with moztrust 0?

And how else are you going to build your tier 1 backlinks? Of course if you focus on 1 niche and work hard on it you will get unique backlinks with time but if you're working with multiple sites, getting those unique backlinks becomes much harder.

As it is, building backlinks to a free blog tier-1 network is a good tactic. There are other tactics of course, if you have the money.

Google is a domain registrar and knows your whois (even if privacy is used) plus it uses many different ways to catch all of your sites. Using different hosting companies help you diverse the risk.

Incestuous networks will render freak results. I.e. you'll shit yourself at how ugly they'll be.

That's understandable. But I was thinking along the lines of various niches on the same hosting account with the same IP.

You are thinking too far. Google won't do that - they don't have definitive algorithm steps to do a penalty on facts pointed by you.

In that case I would imagine that the idea of them following people's sites based on domain whois is bullshit also.

Google is a domain registrar and knows your whois (even if privacy is used) plus it uses many different ways to catch all of your sites. Using different hosting companies help you diverse the risk.

I know that they're a domain registrar but how do you know that they use this to link your sites? Sources? Or does this information come from what people say?

I wont suggest you to host them on same IP. Site hosting on same IP means...One of them gets caught for some thing bad..you are bound to see the bad effect on others too!

if the whois info and niche are diff.. then sure.. go ahead.. just don't interlink them.
