I only have one major fear. Well two actually. My domain contains "Agency" because it was getting some searches and there are NOT a lot of SEO domains left out there. I am obviously not an Agency, I am one guy.

My other fear is, I'm 19, almost 20. I feel as though if I go meet with a client, they will not be very thrilled to see a 20 year old kid with somewhat long hair.

If you are able to rank local keywords, say something like hairdresser in florida (just an example), just rank a website for a few keywords that local businesses are after. You can then 'rent out' your website to them.

Get a suit, cut your hair and add a splash of Paco Robanne and your good to go haha!

Just come across as a professional person who know's what they're doing and you won't go far wrong :)

I don't know much about SEO, so I can't speak much in regards to the first point.

Secondly, who cares if you're 19 or anything? Make a client focus on your SEO services, and not anything else. If anything they should be impressed by you for taking such proactive steps at a young age, but not the other way around.

I'm turning 20 in 5-6 months, and age was never a "limiting" factor to me.

Cheers brotha!

P.S. Get a hair cut :)

This lol just think of it as you're going for an interview. If you dress seriously people will take you seriously. Cut that hair get some nice clothes and you're good to go

Ok the decision to get my hair a bit shorter has been made XD. Once my site is 100% up and running, ill make an appointment.

So you are few months older than me.

@ OP
Age is just a number, thats all. Who cares if you are 19 or 50, all they should car if YOU CAN HELP THEM.
You are 19, but you know SEO. Do you think they will choose 50 year old guy who dont know shit about SEO or 19 year old guy who is SEO pro and proofs that in his words and actions ?

You can do it, go ahead and show he is SEO master. and prove that you can be relaible

Good luck

Use your age to your advantage - make sure you make yourself presentable and smart, and you will come across as a young professional in a young persons game (SEO).

Besides, it's all about results so if you have some of those people won't care about your age too much.

I am 20, I have a web development company with a few clients who are fairly big.

What I have been doing is offering good prices to people who intern resell my stuff.

I build a website for a price that is nicely profitable for me, then they re-sell it, or act as the middle man.

A lot of people actually like that i am in my 20`s because I am in their target age range, so they want people my age to be hitting their site.

I was 17.5 when I got into sales. I was selling $20-$45,000 swimming pools to individuals. These individuals had to trust me with destroying their backyard while trying to turn into their majestic vision they had while dealing with their life savings.

The thing was, I knew that I was fighting an uphill battle. Not only was I competing against seasoned veterans, I was also not old enough to sign the contracts. Either way, so I had to do something different. Instead of treating like a client, I treated them as if they were a friend and family. I took the time to really connect with them, to learn what they really wanted.

All of that led me to be one of the leaders of sales in the company, because clients saw that I truthfully cared. It didn't matter that I was 17,18, or 19. I did lose some sales just because of my age, but overall it didn't hurt me.

You can always grow it back once you make bank... But wether you cut your hair or not you need to have confidence in yourself, your service, and get over the fear of rejection.

22 here, doing seo for BIG brands, age has not played a factor or hire or fire ever! People trust you because your young and know about up-coming practises and your in the know, staying in the know is important, Show them your results, show them you mean business and for fk sake get a hair cut.

Don't think about your age. I'm 16 and people are taking me serious when i'm trying to help them with their sites.

To be honest from personal experience, I believe anyone can have any length of hair, and sort of facial hair provided they are well groomed and appropriate. If a person is confident enough and have the right set of keys to dangle over the client(s), there should be no need to worry about long hair.

I will confess that this is a biased opinion because I like having long hair. It feels good to have the weight on the head and the brushing along the shoulder, but even better on a motorcycle.

One of the main reasons I wanted to work for an independent company was to know that I can have long hair, to know I can dress however and be myself overall.

I know I know, "you won't look professional", "you look like a hippy", "no one will take you seriously".

I do not own a company, but the clients I work with, for another individual, compliment my appearance despite my mid back length of hair and they definitely take me seriously when I am conversing with them in a serious manner.

keep the hair

Go to your local starbucks a couple days this week around noon.
Order some coffee and eavesdrop. This works at one by me that is right off the freeway.

People always have business meetings or attempts at selling something, including seo services.
Listen to how they talk, learn to do the same.

People are more turned off on salespitchs when people don't communicate it well, or don't seem to believe it.
Save the super proffesional look for big big time clients.

If you have doubts and you can't confidently do it then you shouldn't do it simple.
Plus just because you can create backlinks or post content doesn't mean you know what seo is. You should be able to send a client your website (and you should have at least already built 50 for yourself)

If you havn't done that, then how can you really know about seo, and you would be essentially giving people a poor service, for low prices.

Personally, i only do high quality service for high quality prices.
