reputable PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR needed.....

A few months ago , i was taken for $X,XXX the guy was an old blackhatter , but no longer on this forum and the scam was nothing to do with this forum.

My question is , im in the uk. im looking for a reputable private investigator to track this guy down....

i have a copy of his passport , i know his family memebers names , birth place also i have his gf / his old address and i have his last known address ( 3 months ago ) but he has now left this , i was keeping an eye on him but he slipped away as we are like 250miles apart.

can anyone recommend a PI i can use ? or any further steps i can take to track this guy , he is not on any register and doesnt pay tax or claim any social funds so no track record there ....

Just contact the police, there isn't a such thing as private investigator.

I think the first step is to report him here - actionfraud.police.uk/

And see if he is being regulated by the FSA here - fsa.gov.uk/register/indivSearchForm.do

And contact the police, you could do this first. More than likely they will contact actionfraud anyway if you've not already done it.

Unless he has actually broke the law then don't bother contacting the police. Con people are very aware of the protection they are afforded by the law and will use it against you.

I would get out the yellow pages and try and find someone local(yes, they do advertise) just because you find doesn't mean you will get your money though.

thank you for ur advice guys ....... the guy actually lived at my house , i put him up in my spare room , and helped him , clothed him etc.... then he took the money i had in the house i have several chats with him since in which he openly addmits he owes me the money and will ( yeah right ) once he is back on his feet will pay me ...

he also took 2 laptops , again a letter was left by him after he sneaked out whilst i was sleeping , to say sorry for taking the laptops but he needed them to work on to make my money back , i have since had many letters off banks , as he got bank acc. in his name but im my address , and also i broke into his msn chat to his gf. in which they talk about scams to a local building merchants , she was ordering goods to be sent to her from an account he set up from here and a business he set up here. he was sleeping down stairs so got to the post first , this is how he was able to do all.

i have now learned he got goods from the local merchants and sold them to cash convertors for instant cash.

so im guessing i can go to the police with this info right ??? this is a crime , although i feel my money is gone.

Yes that's criminal activity and you should go to the police. You are better off not contacting him or attempting to find him as scammers will be looking for any opportunity to help their case.

He literally stole money and laptops from your house. If that's not a crime, then I don't know what is.
Just contact the police and they will probably have him in 24 hours, since you have his info.

A simple scanning of his name or face can bring additional information about the suspect.

just as an up date , i went to the police , and they are investigating all , thx. for the advice here , going to the police will seem like the obvious thing to all people , but the police and me dont mix well , hence my hesitation , but its done now and he is being sought for theft and fraud ( he used my address to gain money from the bank , well 3 banks )
