And you guys wonder why alot of member keep things to themselves? you want me to show you proof? No, if i were to show proof to anyone, it will be a moderator and that will show am not here to sell no one any services.

And again, you ignored my post. :)

So was march 6 an update or not?

People who make bold statements like you do show proof, so we can see that you're not talking out of your ass (which you do) People here are sharing a lot of great info (not you though) so i don't understand why you think people keep to info themselves... again the scarcity trick....

No proof means to me that your just sig flashing and try to peddle your service with a scarcity post filled with BS about duplicated content... It is what it is....

@Testdrive, no there wasn't... its all speculation on coco's part...

I don't care about march 6 update, am just saying what i have come across with client's site blaming their providers and Google Update, and mostly it's this people site.

Let keep all this to rest, get a moderator on so I can show them the proof with the sites I encounter and brought back to life, PROOF. As it seems no one ever listen to what I say, but keep on banging on about me talking about duplicate content, where as what I meant was is onsite, and this could range from anything, but in my case it was duplicate content. I will see if i can talk to a moderator who can confirm I wasnt lying.

Actually your thread is about march 6 update, you even mentioned it in your op.

I see a lot of thread about how google update affected their site, and yes you might have been ranking for a while before, and then google caught up with your site.

I think i'm the first one to open a thread about the update so I replied on your thread, because in your op, you are so sure that what happened is not an update but just a random penalty about onsite problem. You even mentioned in one of your post about us going back to SEO 101. :)

No it's not Google update its your site. Check your site thoroughly if you think you have unusual drop in rankings

I have pointed out why I think its an update:

Now... I'll say this again.. There are so many website affected at the same time, and the only explanation for that is, they tweak or update their algorithm thus hitting a lot of websites that the new algo targeted.

P.S.: When you lose rank without update, the 1st page SERP will not be affected much it would be just you dropping off. if there was an update, you will see 3-5 new site in the first page and most of the time the 1st page result will be shuffled. This is specially true to micro niche where there so many sniper sites and made for adsense sites.

Now, even you can't deny that an update actually happened so you are now saying that your thread is about your clients. :)

Anyway, Good job on flashing your signature and somehow telling others you know SEO and you managed to recover your clients from a penalty. :)

No, the thread is not about march 6 updates, and actually I saw your thread you created, and saw some BST where people are complaining about their site been affected, and had client consulting with me and complaining about their provider and google updates.

But what I encounter with client who had their site dropped has problem with their site and had nothing to do with google updates. I already pmed the other guy saying its all about me promoting to show him proof, however I can also show you the proof that the clients I encounter had onsite problem, and in this case it was duplicate content, even I had this wiht my own personal site.

If you got a mins I can show you.

You made me laugh with this comment, how am telling others I know SEO, you might want to check am ranking page 1 for most competitive SEO phrases for 6 months without update affecting except few ranking that slipped and found I got some internal duplicate content, and now they back to their positions.

lol.........................

Do you realize that on a picture site.. is inevitable that you get internal duplicate content since the template have more density then the description of a certain photo... This is just a quick example.

Your information got it's value but saying that G updates don't count is a little to much

I can only say that i feel sorry for your clients, even after our PM session, where i showed you proof and you didn't (just two internal URLs pointing at the same content) and how you try to wiggle your way into getting right (like 94% of the same content isn't dup content in your eyes), its sad really...

I am done with you and this thread.... have good one flashing your sig and showing of your incompetence....

I showed you proof of a client having multiple URL with same content which I know for a fact the culprits with this particular clients, I created this thread based on my finding and based on the finding have encountered previously. Not everyone would agree to whatever thread, this are based on my findings, you have your findings.

As I keep saying here, the thread is to alert people not to focus on link building they've done when there was a huge dipped in rankings, it sometimes something to do with the site.

Edit to add: You said I created a thread to sell SEO, how wrong is that? type in duplicate content on google, and see how many case study has been done about it, does that mean they trying to sell SEO to people? Jeez

As much as I hate seomoz, maybe you might like to read into http://www.seomoz.org/blog/duplicate-content-in-a-post-panda-world

Many more topics about this subject, and people like you and me will never agree to it, but I still stick to my findings.

POTENTIAL PROOF

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone here, but I figured I'd post this.

I'm not going to give my niche or website information, so lets just say I have a website about "how to carpet a floor". On this website I am trying to target the keyword "how to carpet a floor" and I have the following pages:

1 - How to remove the old carpet
2 - How to prepare the floor for new carpet
3 - How to choose ideal replacement carpet
4 - Replacement carpet
5 - How to Carpet A Floor <- This is the page I'm trying to rank

Page 5 contained all the information you needed to know about carpeting a floor, so 80% of the content on page 5 was copied from pages 1-4. So if each article on pages 1-4 was 2,000 words in length, page 5 consisted of 10,000 words of information regarding carpet replacement.

When Google's update hit last week, page 5 (my target page) dropped from position #8-11 to position #120-130. I did all the writing and SEO for this site, so I know it like the back of my hand, and my bet on why this page dropped in rankings was because page 5 shared the same content of pages 1-4. So, what I did was I kept the content the same on pages 1-4 and re-wrote page 5 and used all new pictures, tables, layouts, and content (everything was unique). As you can imagine this took me quite a while to do since I pretty much re-wrote 8,000 words of information. Of course, the end result was a much better layout and flow making the page much more readable and overall better for the visitors.

Anyway, yesterday around 11am, I uploaded my new version of page 5. Today, page 5 has moved from position #127 (where it was yesterday) to position #12.

Now was this solely because I re-wrote the content of page 5? There's no way to know. It may have bounced back regardless and my page may lose it's rankings again tonight. However, I thought it would be relevant to post this in this thread.

I still want to entertain myself with our little pm session with you trying so hard to prove something. but its getting too late so i think I'll post what's my take about all of these.

First of all, I feel really sorry for your client/clients. They really are paying too much for what they are getting.

Anyway, About this dup content stuff...

you gave me 2 url as proof.

http://yourclientsite.com/
http://yourclientsite.com/?refresh=1

So you claimed that the reason why the site is not ranking is because of this 2 having the same content. So you put noindex on one url and viola.... the site ranked in google..

uhhmm wait... where?? it's in page 5 and page 8... ohh ok.. well maybe it depends on the persons standard on the term "ranking in google". Personally I can never imagine myself saying to someone that my site is ranking in google even if its already on page 2. Ranking for me is at page 1 but of course it's just me.

I search a bit on google and found this:

http://us.cnn.com/
http://us.cnn.com/?refresh=1

Now you claimed that the reason cnn has no penalty because it has a meta tag of "noarchive" :)
I actually have no idea about this lol.

anyway, I checked http://yourclientsite.com/ in ahrefs and opensite.. it has 2300 plus backlinks and the funny thing about this, the top links for this site are profile links and wiki links!! LOL... And you wonder why your client's site doesnt rank...

You came to conclusion that this site is not ranking because of dup content. Seriously.. out of 2300 link the top backlinks are wikis with spun content and profile links with almost no content but your link. :) It never occurred to you that maybe, maybe.. my backlink profile is shit thats why its not ranking.. lol

Now you are bragging about ranking your personal site on first page locally. with exact monthly searches of 1600, 390, 260, 720, 210, 170 per keywords.

Well congratulations... You are now a SEO EXPERT.. I know monthly searches is not equal to difficulty of keywords to rank.. BUT........

I also ran your site at Ahrefs and my head almost fell off when i see..........166,277 total backlinks.. and I can still see profile links and wiki links in the first page of top backlinks. :)

Anyway, I think I have enough with this thread too so, good luck to you specially to your clients :)

P.S. You mentioned about your high PR high authority post in your private blog network, what happened to that? if it is indeed a high authority network, why is it that not a single site appears on the first page of top backlinks??

I think this guy here is gunning for me really, Yes the client is ranking page 5 and page 8, You asked this, I gave you the explanation, he's only been with us for 4 weeks, the first 2 weeks was used sorting our his content, the other 2 weeks i saw the page ranking on page 5 and page 8, if any one here see that, would know that impressive, for the fact this particular client has been with previous agency, 2 agency to be precise, now your quoting that the links are wiki links.

Does that mean all links created are created by us? have you forgoten the part where I mentioned this guy came from two previous provider to come to us?

And yes our main site has over 100k with impressive link profile, and we do have our network, and how in the hell do you think you will find and dig for that particular links out of 100k? all the links type you can think of is been used, does that mean you can find any of it out of that 100k backlinks? And yes exact match doesnt equate to how competitive a phrase is, anyone can rank a site, absolutely any one, the question boils down to can this ranking sustain every updates, this is where it comes to, my site do well on page 1 with all the possible updates google roll out, where is yours? gone down google wave.

And yes if you look at the cnn site

http://us.cnn.com/
http://us.cnn.com/?refresh=1

you will see they both have noarchive, which means telling Google not to cache a page, and if you do this also site:www.us.cnn.com you will see countless pages like this that are not cached and also some that are cached.

One mins you told me how you want to buy my package, and I declined and say no then write all this about me.

Ahahah

Goodluck man.
