Google update question..

Hey all Long time lurker and just started posting.

My site has been indexed by google but is not very well ranked. I've poured through all the pages here and on other forums and have slowly been optimizing my site.

Problem is googlebot has been hitting my pages but google has yet to update my listing. I've submitted my sitemap again, been building backlinks and yet it hasn't updated for about 5 days. Is there a way to speed up the update?

Are you optimizing your pages for very competitive keywords or low hanging fruit keywords? Initially you should optimize your site for the least competitive keywords if you want higher rankings to get indexed (if you're not using social bookmarking/social networking sites). Write articles for your site using low hanging fruit keywords and include them on your domain. Send me a PM if you would like free assistance with your keyword research.

Agreed - work three / four + word keyword phrases into page title, meta desc, onsite content etc and then build links to these pages via articles.

You'll get rankings pretty quickly.

I am optimizing for a pretty competitive term. Currently ranked 300 of 7,620,00. Now this ranking is without google seeing my new title tags, h1, and content. The odd thing is if I search for my new tag line, my site shows up with the new additions. But in the search for "MyState Web Design" it is still the old... very odd!

I've been writing articles to try and push. This is for my legit business of web design and development. I'm been programming for many years but this is my first attempt at marketing myself.

I do have a few BH blogs to help pay the bills, those are ranking much better than my real deal.

I'm currently using PPC to reach my audience and I am converting fairly well (not losing money at least!).

Would be willing to trade SEO work for DEV work if anyone is interested

google is really weird with updating serps and pr

i had a few years old site with pr1 and no seo
as soon as i did seo, the pr dropped to 0, but i'm 24 for my main keyword so far (i was 3rd page after the first week and then dropped beyond 1000 to come back again after 1 month to position 24)
