link building through 301 redirects?

If I create 3 subdomains like:
sub1.domain1.com
sub2.domain1.com
sub2.domain1.com

and I do 301 redirect to all of them to www.moneydomain.com

then use 3 different link building methods or services on each initial subdomain,
and if one of the link building methods will get unfavored by google, then I disconnect that subdomain.

2 years back 301 leaked a some linkjuice, but it worked fine.
Will this work in 2013?

I didn't tried this method lately and i'm not sure how is working in 2013 but you may consider these facts:

I suppose that in the past you were promoting the subdomains with spammy links (getting thousands of links from automated blasts). That was the reason why you didn't blast your money site directly.

Now if you do this kind of link building and redirect to money site...you won't remain up for long. Otherwise if you gonna build authoritative and manual links to your subdomains... why don't use them directly to your money site?

The idea is that subdomains with 301 are security layer, incase some of the link building methods would get penalized in the future.

Ofcourse, if I build authoritative manual links, I will use them directly on money site, but
That would not do the job most of the time...
so I need to use some services here, but some of them might be pickes up by google and penalized

for me one of my domains has been blacklisted on a forum where I used sig links a lot. Ive just 301'ed an old domain of mine to the blacklisted site and im now using that domain in the signature.

similar to the OP's question really is this still passing juice or am i wasting my time?

I have applied recently lots of 301 redirects between domain. I even initiated a 301 redirect from a 6 million inbound links domain to a new one - since the former was punished. My outcomes are:


1. once I have created the redirect, the new website has ranked at the position (page 1, position 4) of the punished domain - almost immediately!
That is:
Domain A (punished) was ranked no.4
initiated the 301
New Domain was ranked no.4


I have replaced all the Google Analytics & Webmaster tools profile name to represent the New Domain (the account, and UA tracking code stayed the same, only the name was replaced)


After a couple of month, the New Domain has lost all its ranking (all my keywords) - basically, was punished again.


So, I came up with the following conclusions:


1. 301 redirects pass almost 100% of link juice
2. 301 redirects pass also the carried punishment of the previous domain. But, it takes time to Google to apply the punishment to the new domain. apparently, the punishment mechanism (not algo filter) is being updated once in a while - like algo updates or PR updates


So... what I did?
After the New Domain had also lost its rankings due to punishment that got tunneled from the former domain, I contacted Google support through the WMT panel and told them that it's a new domain, that we didn't do the link bomb on our website, and that we're trying to remedy our website hence the redirect etc etc. and after couple of weeks, the website moved back to its higher positions as was before till now.


So, take a look at sections 1 and 2 and you'll understand what is the outcomes of a 301 rediret

- i believe it will pass no more than 80% of juice. how long did you wait for a domain to take over the previous positions? i waited about 3 weeks.

how long was taking to get same positions for new domain after u made 301 redirect?
i have a site with huge # of inbound links that lost serp on 28 sept 2012 after emd update,is to late to redirect it now to another domain(few years old,targeting same keywords but without any penalty) ?

so you are saying if you had position 1 with a domain and you redirect it to another domain you will keep number 1 spot? i believe you havent done any 301's
