Almost no backlinks top 10 highly competitive

I have been noticing a trend of sites in an incredibly highly competitive niche I'm working on in the financial sector. They have very good on-page SEO <150 backlinks of random things usual long tail and they rank top 10 and have a pr of 3+. All of these sites are 4+ years old. Just wondering how google is figuring their position?

In my opinion, onpage backlinks are now more important that offpage backlinks because it looks more natural in googles eyes. It is very important to have good content and onpage backlinks.

pretty simple, authority. A niche I compete on had a furious competition between sites with no backlinks but fucken hard authority. I even met some 100 authority site score and the youngest is 7 years old. this is gonna be fun

... what the hell are you talking about. On-site links don't count towards page rank, you know that right? lol

There are a large number of ways to hide back links sources... Just do a Google search for: ai link guardian (Disclaimer; service offered by the company I work for.)

Do they have an authority link like from Wiki or something? they are carry some weight.
