How Long To Rank?

I just built a site for offline marketing purposes. It is EMD in a niche that has 480 local monthly searches. I plan to purchase some fiverr blasts and press release. This particular keyword doesn't seem to have much competition. This is my first attempt to rank a site, how long should it take to get on the first page? I appreciate any input.

And to add some emphasis what I mean by lack of competition is that the top performing pages are articles in a local news channel. I know this news channel isn't investing time or money in SEO for this particular niche so is this a good sign?

avoid fiverr - the best thing you could do is to register your site in google places verify your address + local citations. Get yourself some local tld links then viola. Also host your site in your local area.

Depending on how big (and authoritative) those sites are that have the articles ranking in the first few spots it might be more difficult than you think...

Im guessing its probably not gonna be that hard though.. I wouldn't recommend fiverr links or any links other than the ones you can't control yourself, but if this is the only site you're gonna be making there's no point in learning seo, so either use some fiverr links or check the BST section here...

Don't use blog comment links though... something like a few senuke campaigns should probably be sufficient. If it's a new domain you're using as well, it could take anywhere up to 6 months for it to lose its "newbie" tag and settle where it should rightfully be.

You guys are all giving good answers and I appreciate all of the input. I'm really new to this, the only thing I know about SEO are things that I have learned from reading this website and tons of big G articles (inspired by you guys). I see so much potential with what I'm doing I'm just really excited and its forcing me into dumb question mode lol. If I can give any additional information that might help you guys give better answers please let me know, and as always thanks for being here.

This is my second site, I have another amazon affiliate site that isn't really generating traffic yet, but I'm not the type of guy that is ever satisfied so I do plan on learning SEO and I have a very very basic understanding of it, but I need to scale my knowledge up big time. Can anyone recommend a good course or guide?

Exact local searhes 1600 / Results 48.900.000 ( i now, hard comp and not much searches but there is good money in that keyword.
My website went in 4 month's from PR0 to PR5
Just ad weekly hq content and do some quality link building do NOT use Fiverr
