"Tier 2" links, build small and slow or blast?

Hi Guys

I just wanted to know from your experiences weather you find building links slowly to your "tier 2" properties is better than blasting?

All of my sites target (g00gle).co.uk and on the last "panda 24" update, they got hit. I'm guessing this is due to my links looking spammy, so I am now building web2.0's as my first tier and then linking to them.

The part that make me question the blast is due to g00gle giving a penalty to my web2.0s, I know I'm not trying to rank my web2.0's but surly if they suffer the weight of the link on these properties suffer too, this brings me to thinking that the 3rd level of links need to look natural as well.

Can somebody confirm what is working best for them!

Its better to drip it slow, and then spam tier 3 instead. But if your budget don't allow, then settle for a blast.

I go more medium throttle for my teir 2's. No scrapebox or xrumer but SENuke for sure. Say one campaign a month, then drip feed those. Usually the tier 2's wind up ranking better in the long run than the main site if I go too fast. That said, if your looking for the quick fix, blast away.

For your tier 2, you want to build as many tier 3 links as you can as quickly as you can. Make sure that you don't do too many spammy things to the tier 2 links pointing to your tier 1's. The idea is to have a buffer against your main website being penalized. Also, make sure you keep track of all the links you build so the next time you think you are getting penalized, you can remove things before it damages your website.

I build a lot fast to tiers 2 and below, but that doesn't mean I don't use strategy with kw and anchor diversity and link-type diversity. In other words, I'm not blasting a million of the same type of link with the same anchor text from the same sources. I still mix up my anchors, including naked and generic, and use different types of links, including links/sites that are high enough quality that they could be tier 1.

I try to make each tier it's own "tier 1" and diversify the links and control many types of properties that can all be isolated and tested in different ways ( in other words, if I have 50 blog posts or articles that point to tier 1, Im not going to just blast them all with the same 50,000 links with the same anchors,etc). I also use legit niche sites with domains as my tier 1 and tier 2 for money sites that I am trying to hit out of the park. But I am much more willing to take risks the further down the building I go. I will let my basement get a lot dirtier than my penthouse suites.

I wouldn't go with thousands links a day to my tier 2s and up.. from tier 2 you can build faster, but just don't overdo it!

If you got did get hit by the Panda update then links are very unlikely to be the cause. Panda doesn't have anything to do with your links, it's all about the onpage factors and the quality of the information on your site. If you're under Panda, you can build all the tier 2 links you like, but your rankings wont budge.

I'd first double check that you have been hit by Panda. Make sure the dates of the ranking drops match up to the update day. Then, if you're sure that's what it is, sit down and take a brutal look over your site. Check for any onpage factors which may have tripped the Panda and get them addressed asap. Hopefully you'll be able to shake the penalty on the next update/refresh.

personaly I attack my Tier 2 and below every other week....for the simple fact that if you make 1,000 links it does not mean that is 1,000 live....so once all is said and done it will look dripped becasue all are not showing up at the same time. This has helped my clients and myself

The best link scheme:

Tier I = Only Hi-Quality 'unquestionable' links, manually performed.
Tier II = Good Quality type links, 'iffy' or with an asterisk included, selectively automated or outsourced.
Tier III = can be spammed or fully automated, just use some intelligence about it.

Thanks for all your advice and methods, I think I'll take a look at the onsite content and keyword density etc, one of the sites that got hit was being used as a buffer site to my main site so that could well be why my main site suffered a bit too.

This buffer site was a bit thin, so I'll add some more content and fresh pictures etc

With regards to my backlinking, I'm aiming to build unique quality link to my money site that can be deleted if needed, then link to them as mentioned, maybe blasting at level three.
