So, among a few issues I'm researching on my own, I have one that I can't find a definitive answer to.

I think I got sandboxed. Unfortunately, I've gotten a few conflicting definitions for sandboxing, so let me describe my issue.

I've had my domain up for about 1 week so far. I bought a handful of backlinks (50 .edu and 200 pr0-pr6) and had them up. I also 301'd from a related domain I used to use that was pr0 and about 4 years old. I built a sitemap, submitted it to Bing/Google, and pinged the backlinks. I've been indexed according to my analytics programs (I have 3 right now up as I was debating which to use). I've put two articles on there so far, and I'm in the process of writing the third. My issue is, I don't seem to be ranking at all.

I did a keyword check for the keywords I am targeting currently, and according to two different websites, I am not ranked at all. So I'm wondering, did I overdo it coming out the gate? I know the typical fix for it is just to continue on adding content and stop building backlinks, but I just want to know if I overdid it for future reference. My domain still shows when I do an exact search for it luckily.

Any advice for a newbie?

I never checked prior to today. I used a free web tool as I don't really know where to look.

Then more then likely you are not sandboxed.

And yeah. I only learned how horrible the backlinks I purchased were after the fact, and it wasn't worth the effort to ask for a refund since it was a bad fiverr deal.

anchor text is the text that is linked (normally with your keywords):

EX: Anchor Text

It's a good idea to get your keyword ratio to 35% or so to your main keyword...the rest should be longtail keywords or your site url

EX:

carpet cleaning (main keyword)
www.domainforcarpetcleaning.com (naked url for anchor text)
the best carpet cleaning around (long tail)

That being said, most of the links are dead already, so it won't hurt as badly.
