Can you purchase a domain on it to get rid of the annoying domain after your site name.

Yeah, there is an option in blogger to do this, or you can buy a domain from a domain company and setup a re-direct to your blogger

Yes, you can buy a domain name or get it for free .co.cc, for example. But I don't recommend it as it doesn't have a lot of credibility and has been misused by many spammers.

The best way is to buy a domain name and point it to your blogger account and that's done.

I hope this helps.

Why would you choose blogger with a custom domain over wordpress? :)

Yes you can buy though google or purchase a domain from any good domain provider and point it to your blogger blog. It has been in existence from quite a time!

you should join wordpress. There's plenty of useful plugins

You can do it, but the last time I tried, if you purchase the domain outside of google, like from godaddy or namecheap, it won't work. There's been several people complain about it on the google support forum, and google doesn't seem to care to get it fixed any time soon.

You could use the url redirect, but it won't show yourwebsitename.com instead of yourwebsitename.blogspot.com.

I would strongly urge getting your own hosting and just installing wordpress.

buy a domain from godaddy or others and use a wordpress to set up a blog. That's what most people do

Yes of course you can. Just buy a domain name from Godaddy you can Google to find coupons that will work while buying a new domain from them. Then go into the settings of blogger and you should be able to find where to put your domain name in if you have further problems just call Godaddy with your customer number and they will help you with it.
