Google image search - Why you may have lost traffic

I too am loosing traffic from google image search. I just want to know if this plugin is safe and will not affect our serp? btw, there's a petition at change d o t org for google to stop hotlinking images, not sure if it will get through.

If you worry about your image rankings in Google, just rewrite the htaccess generated by Imaguard to just redirect a few pictures. Then compare the ranking movements over a few weeks. NB! Remember that Imaguard will overwrite your changes to the htaccess file if you de- and then reactivate it or if you change the Imaguard settings.

After I lost the ranking for the images I turned off the plugin. Today I got my previous rankings.

This can be just a coincidence, I am turning on the plugin again and if the rankings drop again I will be sure.

My website is made thru cloudflare and if I activate the hotlink protection from cloudflare so other websites can't take pictures from my website thru html code because they use my resources it gives me this error when I try to access my websites images from google images search:
"
[h=1]Access Denied[/h] The owner of this website (xxx) does not allow hotlinking to that resource (/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/The-main-job-of-the-owner.jpg). (Ref. 1011)"

If I disable the plugin I won't get this error.
I tried to add cloudflare website to the whitelist but is not working.
Is there any way for this plugin to work with hotlink protection on?

googl'e entire business model is predicated on stealing other people's work. google books scanned 8 million and posted them online without even checking with the authors. youtube makes napster look like a joke, as a former musician, i can confidently say that if you release something it will be on youtube within a week, google ads all over it. they ripped off the iphone, stole proprietary java technology. they track people without their consent, even if you don't use google services. and don't forget about the mocality scandal. i could keep going..

and now this, doesn't surprise me. i don't feel bad about gaming their system one bit

Ok, but you may want to try rewriting the htaccess file just to influence some images - so you don't lose all your rankings again. Just in case.

Any changes to the plugin recently? I have the last version installed from wordpress using search plugin and I have a little problem. I have to deactivate/activate the plugin 1-2 times a day because he stops workings and it's not redirecting to the view-image link only after i deactivate and activate the plugin again.

I forgot to ask something before that is connected to the update. If a visitor just see the image and don't visit our site, does it use traffic from our site and does this count as a visit in Analytics ?

Recenlty my website traffic went down after going well for a few weeks since I installed the plugin. Are there any chances to the plugin or to google ? Anyone?

No changes to the plugin. Is there a drop in number of pagesviews per visitor or have your rankings dropped?

Sorry, missed this question. If a visitor just shows a thumbnail it doesn't grab it from your site. If they do the big preview, then it is grabbed from your site. However I think Analytics filter those views out (?) from site visits.

The number of the UV dropped. My ranking on google search is still the same, I don't know about my ranking on google images search because I never checked that one.

Just an update, not on the plugin, but this topic in general. According to rumors, Finkelstein & Krinsk LLP are preparing a class action law suit against Google for the changes they made to their Google Image Search. If you are an original copyright holder (photographer or similar) you may want to contact

William R. Restis
Finkelstein & Krinsk LLP
The Koll Center
501 W. Broadway, Suite 1250

and ask for a status update and the possibility to join the class action. Hopefully Google will get what they deserve for this - they have made themselves the biggest thieves in the history of mankind with their new Google Image Search.

Oh, by the way, if you are lucky enough to have your image not just appear on the Google image search, but on the front on their normal web search (if it is linked to a news story or well known person etc) you will find that the preview now covers your entire screen... That is of course not at all a violation of copyright. Just a preview under fair use...

I had to modify the robots.txt, since the change all my images no index in google images, just delete the line disallow /wp-
Later, install plugin gofresh and modify the htaccess file, redirection enabled! 40 % recovered visits :D
