Does copywriting help with making landing pages for PPC/PPV? I am about to get into that world and was wondering if I should learn copywriting or I am better off just reading books about "Landing Page Optimization". I am thinking I should probably learn both. Thanks!

Here's a quick tip if you want to learn some effective copywriting:

Go to the Clickbank Marketplace and study the landing pages of
some of the top selling products in any particular niche.

Notice how their headlines work and study how they pace their
ad copy in such a way that moves you to their call to action.

Compelling headlines, bullet points, pacing the copy in the body text,
use of scarcity, call to action, etc. All good stuff to learn and apply.

This is always good advice. See what competitors are doing but don't just stop their go through CPA landers and see what they're doing too especially if you're going the PPC/PPV route which means you're probably focusing more on short form lead gen pages rather than long form sales pages. Try to find ones that are successful. I'd recommend offervault for a good centralized list of offers. If you're doing stuff in the IM niche take a look at popular WSO's too.

A lot of times what looks like it would convert well doesn't always do well. Split testing is the key. You would be amazed how sometimes ugly landers convert better than nice looking ones.

You have to also understand your niche. Some niches people respond better to tips/advice while others respond better to an emotional response. The better you understand your target market the more successful you'll be.

If you're on a budget don't waste your money on a copywriter because most aren't going to give you anything better than what you can do yourself. Not to mention they're probably not that good since they're not doing their own copywriting and making bank on it vs. the in demand copywriter who makes more writing copy.

Good copywriting is always helpful. Think about it this way, you want to hit on a beautiful girl - you have to know how and what to start with until she says yes to be your date, right? It is the same thing here, you have your landing page to open a conversation with your prospects (buyers) to get a big yes (sale) from them.

Good landing page must have:
1. Good headline which doesn't sound too clever or like a title.
2. Sub headline - you already have a good headline now they are interested to read more, hit them with your awesome sub headline.

And the list goes on. This has a lot to talk about but it will be fun to you to learn about this as it will be your lifeline for your new venture.
