i bought a expired 1996 domain need help!

hey everyone,

i literally dont know nothing about domain reselling or anything like that but i started researching on expired domains and found a great domain name...

apparently the appraisel is $116000 and some other will defer of-course. If there is anyone out there who can personally help me valuate an actual price for this domain... i would greatly appreciate it! But anyways ill give you some details that i got from it from valuate.com, if there is anyone who can explain to me as well.

Yeah, I was about to echo bertbaby's sentiments. Those automated appraisals don't mean anything I'm afraid. The value depends on so many other factors.

Old may be good for ranking a new site if you are going to build one, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable.

Presumably it's a .com? How many letters? Is it a word or key term?

but my domain is horizontal.com

and my most recently purchased domain is ilove.uk.net but im more interested in the horizontal.com

Well it's a cool name and obviously very brandable but as to valuable I'm not sure. I've personally never searched for that word in all my years online. If my internet connection wasn't going so slow right now I'd research it for you.

90,500 Global Monthly Exact searches which is great but the Adwords competition is low meaning nobody is really competing to advertise for that keyword therefore there's probably nothing worth advertising for the keyword.

I'm sure you can do something good with the domain name but it will involve creating some decent content to rank and also beforehand considering what are you gonna do if you DO rank for that word. It's not a buying keyword meaning someone who stumbles across your site isn't looking to buy something horizontal.

It's cool and brandable though.

Maybe make an online bed store

lol thanks for doing the search! it would be interesting to make a website out of it but i rather get it out of my hands. i really thought the name was appealing and just went and purchased it before anyone else could. i saw some other guys on godaddy selling horizontal.net for $21000 and i was like "really?"

could there be an estimate for this domain?

I'm not saying yours is worth nothing by the way. Just re-read my post and it sounded like I was - you've definitely got a good domain name there and I'd have bought it too. I'm just saying it's not gonna be worth anything like what you're expecting without any work and an established site.

You're advantage is that it's noticeable so maybe spend a little time making a smallish site and flip it on Flippr. The name will definitely attract some bids.

Umm yeah I just checked that too and there hasn't been any changes on the domain since last December. What have you actually bought?
