What is a web 2.0?

So what are web 2.0 websites?
I heard they were sites like wordpress and stuff. Is that true?
Also does that mean you have to buy 10 domains to make your first tier of link building?

Any help would be appreciated.

Chances are you're already using some application that is a form of Web 2.0. Some of the most popular examples are:

Specifically Web 2.0 was a term coined back in the 90's and referred to websites that offered more than just static HTML pages where users could basically only read or otherwise look at information. It was a term used to refer to sites where users could generate content and publish it online.

So yes, sites like wordpress.com (and any site where users can generate and publish content) is a web 2.0 site. Frankly its an antiquated term and (in my opinion) is kind of annoying because it doesn't refer to any kind of update in software.

This is a good way because you put time and effort into building backlinks and then sites like wordpress, blogger, hubpages etc can delete them; if you buy a few domains buy a separate IP address for each one. When I start a website I normally buy about 10 other domains for this purpose concentrate on getting traffic to all of them, not just backlinks. Things like bounce rate, time on site, social engagement can be much more powerful than backlinks.

Web 2.0 is given to describe a second generation of the WWW that is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online. basically refers to the transition from static HTML Web pages to a more dynamic Web that is more organized and is based on serving web application to users.Now Web 2.0 is really starting to mean a combination of the technology (like AJAX) allowing the customers to actually interact with the information.
