[Life changing decision]I need you help guys

September 2012, me and a friend of mine decided to open a youtube business, basically a bridge between advertisers and channels, all this in a 90% automated way (kinda like what machinima does, but there isn't anybody doing this over there), we developed the ideia, made sketches, write some code, even thought we worked equally hard and we both developed the idea, my share in the company was smaller. Fast foward to December 2012, I was chatting with him on Skype, he says "I'm gonna pick up a coffee", and when he comes back he says that he was giving up the business for university, I was upset and feeling betrayed, but what the heck could I do about it?.

Fast forward once again to today, February 06th 2013, he send me a "letter" on skype saying that he was sorry about what happend, and now he managed to convince alot more people to work with him (lawyers, administrators and stuff), and he have a meeting scheduled with a very famous brazillian actor/investor, and offered me a CTO job (Chief of technology officer).


What about now?, I'm not sure about what sould I do, I'm pretty sure of this facts:
-This new business will be making alot money pretty soon
-I'm WAY more confortable working with I.M (I'm doing I.M full time for 10 days, didn't make any money yet)
-What if I decide to keep going with I.M and the business became a multi-billionare type of thing?

Dude join them! Unless you have a source of income or some backup funds that you are willing to sacrifice, you should probably join them. It's not about who's better or who has better skills, join them and see how it goes while doing IM part time. IM takes time and success isn't guaranteed straight away. But the experience you may/will gain as a CTO could be very valuable.

Yup, yuo think the idea you will be working on is good. so let go of your pride and just go for it. the worst thing that could happen is you end up in the same place where you started.

Join them !! I hope it's not too late. Remember that "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush". Join them and do your stuff on the side until you can stand on your own two feet.

no offence but your friend knows what he is doing, he has a goal and a vision. When he left he came back bigger(actors, hiring lawyers etc), but I'm not sure much has changed for you in that time - according to what you wrote.
Stick with him until you have established yourself

Go for that CTO job and do IM part time. Later decide which way is your way. Dont put all eggs in one basket and dont close open doors.

Guys, I don't need a income source (I'm 16 years old, still live with my parents), and there's no way I could do I.M part time because is a 18 hour day on that job.


I just to feel nearly as confortable to work with someone who I can't trust, is not pride, but I feel safer doing I.M.

Dont you have school at this age? Or have you dropped out already? If yes, then you can consider the job and get the funds and invest in IM. All you have to do is outsource. Ofcourse you will need to learn basics of IM before you outsource.

If the offer is good take it. Negotiate for better offer as much as you can.
If you think IM is better than the job, you can always fall back to that at some point.

Do both, take the job see how it goes and do IM in you spare time what you can, Then you have the best of both world, if the jobs pays off good move, if it doesn't you have minimized damages by keeping your fingers in the IM pie.

Thank you!, that's exactly my point!, what if tomorrow he simply decide to give up again?, then all my work, stress and effort is sended right away to the trash bin.

We used to be partners, but then he simply decided that he didn't want it anymore.

Does he plan on paying you from day 1? If so, I would say take the job and work IM in your spare time. If you feel this has the potential to be a huge business, then right now is the best time to get in while it's still fairly new. Who knows how far it can take you. Plus you will be making money right away and even if he for some reason decided to walk away, at least you will have gotten paid for the work you've done.

Now if he doesn't plan on giving you money right away, then it's a bit of a coin-flip in my opinion.

You have only been doing IM for 10 days you said and you aren't making money yet, so for now I would go with the more secure option and work IM part time until you get it all figured out and are making money.
