So im trying to do keyword research for about 30 words..i want to target long tail keywords.. the programs i am using are Market Samurai and Google keyword. However im getting kind of confuse because when i search the long tail keyword for instance" how to make money from blogging, then i search it "how to make money from blogging" and still see a lot of results..even though Google show low competion and market samurai do to for different keywords im targeting.. need some assistance on finding keywords? and do the global amount matter when the keyword is not in quotations?

google keyword tool doesn't show the SEO competition it only shows the advertising competition (the ammount of advertiseres bidding for that keyword), so if you are making an adsense site you want the competition in keyword tool to be high (more adverts).

when checking the amount of searches a keyword has, put them all into google keyword tool, and on the left un-tick "broad" and tick "exact" this will show you the exact monthly searches.

Yea i am doing that.. however why when i type the word in google in quotations its showing alot more words.. like over 100k.. im trying to target keywords less than 50k but it seem like this not helping

The low competition you see means that their is a low amnout of advertisers completing for that keyword and it has nothing to do with SEO competition. Also, you should watching the market samurai videos on their website, they helped me a lot to understand how market samurai works and how to find good keywords. The more green, the better.

Your first mistake is using Market Samurai, it's a piece of shit.

Don't judge keyword competition based on the number of search results G0ogle shows. It's just one of the factors you have to check to analyze a keyword. Focus on the first page search result sites. Analyze their off-site/on-site SEO. That what's plays a major role in picking a right keyword.

ok im going stick to my original keyword tool ..its all making sense now... so i want go off of the global searches ill just take a look after i choose my keywords.. anybody uses jaaxy..? i think its excellent

the most important feature that a keyword tool should has, imho is the ability to generate thousands of keywords easily from 1 seed keyword. that's why i like ultimate niche finder.
