EMD SEO Value and 301 Redirects

Question guys. Let's say a keyword I want to target is "poop my pants" and I buy poopmypants.com. Can I do a 301 redirect to a different domain like poopmyskirt.com but still get the EMD SEO value of poopmypants.com?

I know there was an EMD fix for too much value given to EMD's, but does that mean Google COMPLETELY stopped giving value to EMD's over non-EMD's at all?

EMD still has value. The update was not about EMD but for having thin content on the site.

I agree with shailzrocks in that the update wasn't targeting EMD's specifically. The fact that website owners were using EMD's was not the target of the recent update that wiped many of them off the SERP's but rather those owners were doing a variety of other things that got them demoted and they happened to be using EMD's as a part of their strategy. Google (or any other search engine for that matter) really doesn't care what URL you use as long as you have quality content and you don't appear to be deceptive in your practices.

As for your redirect, you could rank the other domain and redirect it however it may be tough to rank it without any content and only using it as a "shell".

Having a keyword in your domain isn't bad at all. Google didn't mean to hurt websites having EMD but those who were of low quality. In my opinion, it's just a second version of over-optimization penalty or we can associate it with Penguin. Its all about quality of website content & back links.

You've an EMD domain but it's been optimized keeping in mind the quality of links & content then EMD isn't gonna hurt you.

If you just buy poopmypants.com and redirect it you won't see any benefit as it won't even be indexed in google. To see a benefit from it you'd need to build a site on that, get it indexed and ranked for some keywords, then redirect it. Redirecting a brand new domain has no SEO benefit.

Note that 301 redirecting pages some times results in a lost of PR.

Ah, okay. Thanks everyone. Especially lafours.

I'll put some content up then, maybe 3-10 posts. Do some SEO and rank on first page for my keywords and then 301 redirect.

On the official site (the one receiving the SEO juice from the 301 redirect) I'll continue to put some content up on that keyword and do SEO for that there too. Correct?
