Hey guys,
Just wanted to make a stereotypical thank you post after seeing my first serious success online.
I've been trying to give back to BHW as much as possible by detailing my progress and my exact method in a journey thread, but I felt like this needed its own thread.
Here's the deal, I've made a few thousand online (not tens of thousands, and not really that much for an adult), but for a teenager who only has 1-2 hours a night to do IM, that's a lot.
There's one main thing I learned from the past year or two.
If you aren't working for yourself, you are losing out on 99% of the value you create.
Take a minute, and try to think about what I just said. I made almost $2,000 from purely writing articles and doing fiverr gigs.
The uninformed people here will think "That's a huge amount of money to make from article writing or Fiverr. The smart ones, and what I now realize is that those two years of my life were essentially wasted because I wasn't building anything of value.
I wasn't creating a business, or working on a long-term plan, I was just making short-term 'beer money.'
A couple months ago I realized that no matter how many articles I wrote for other people, my income per article and my monthly/yearly income would never increase overtime. (Unless I increased my prices or wrote more articles)
Here's my advice:
If you are a teenager/someone who doesn't have an urgent need for money/needs to pay for your family or debt... don't do short-term work. Work towards something of real value, either create a business, website, or other tangible asset that you can add value to overtime.
In my case I decided to start an authority site, and to be fair, I've only put 1-2 solid months of work into it. And I'm still learning a lot all the time... which means there's so much more to come.
What caused me to write this thread?
I made a $70 sale on clickbank, made two other leads for another affiliate network, and made $5 in adsense the last couple days. I am about 10,000 times more impressed and hopeful from this accomplishment than the other $2,000 I made from article writing.
Now, you might be wondering why I'd rather make $5-$20 from a website than $2,000 from articles...
This website is almost always growing in value.
If I add an article to my website, it gains value, and in the long-term that equals more passive income into my pocket. If I write an article, it equals $5, with no long-term increase in revenue or anything else.
I'll leave you with this: Think of how you can work on a long-term passive income strategy, rather than chasing after immediate gratitude that is actually holding you back from your true potential.
