Is a red/black color scheme ever a good idea?

Lets say for like a dating site specifically for hooking up(now im not making something like this so you can go ahead if you want to), should one just go with the traditional blue and white colors?

Is red ever a good idea for a site which might have millions of users, especially if its like a background/theme color?

Something about red is attractive yes, but for a site where people hang out/millions of users, is it a bad idea to use red even if the theme is sex?

Someone please input me on this.

Red black and you can add in gold are fantastic for color matching...

Plus of course all Chinese folks simply adore red - black - gold these colors are embedded in the culture of Chinese society

Because a website that is red/black about sex /porn/dating is cool, except when it is supposed to be for millions of users and make +5K/day.

Blue and white is easy and good for the eys. I suspect red and black have far too much "pigment", and cover up too much.

Maybe overthinking it.

I like the feedback that you enjoy the color scheme I said.

But how long could you stand hanging out on a red/black site? Would it hurt your eyes after a while, would it be cooler to be there than Facebook?

Well if anyone can link me to a single website that makes massive bank (easy 5K+/day) and is a color besides white/blue, and has red/black, then I will confirm my fears are just fears.

I havent seen a single website for massive amoounts of users that is red/black.

Red is a powerful color. It works best to draw attention to an important part of a site or document. You want to use it to do exactly that and create an eyecatcher for your audience and guide their way. It does not make sense to over-extent it's use because then it will simply not work.

Youporn, many of porn / dating related are red black, not that I spend all my time looking at porn. I think it is just your personal opinion which makes you think red black is not good.
