I am trying to build a database...using WP.

Does anyone know if i can create a Landing page where people input the information...and that info can be stored and retrieved later?

Wordpress already comes with one. Has user subscriber roles, so on.

Yes we know, yes you can, yes it can. Towards which purpose? If you would like to spam the shit out of them I recommend http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/export-users-to-csv/ and enabling public registration. This way you can simply customize the user registration page and set the default role to Subscriber.
