How Much Should I Charge this Client to Clone His Websites?

Ok simple question for some web guys out there....


Have a client that I have done some simple task for in the past, I am not a full time web designer but I do side work from time to time in my area and this guys has a simple and clean site that has a few products that he sells online and on amazon ebay etc and ask me to clone his site for him with 3 different domains he purchased.

So it will be a clone 3x's - what in your opinion would you charge for this service?
A fair price per se?

I dont do a lot of cloning services so need to get some advice on pricing?

oh yeah I forgot it is a simple like 5 to 6 page design using CS-Cart. with a authorize net merchant back end attached for orders

Well, it's essentially free for you since you can just use the same site across all three domains and "point" it to the same database. The real question is: What is he willing to pay for it?

Well I guess my question is, if you have the know how and had no other current projects what would you charge for it (fair price).

I mean I know it is not a full custom build, I would usually charge anywhere from 1K to 2K and yes it is just a clone which i am sure there is a nice piece of software to help me get it done quickly but...

It is not really copy Db and point because he is going to clone it and then change a header and backend to match the domain and product and also he has to change up the merchant account stuff to. So a LITTLE bit of work but mostly just a 3 clone deal... 100 for each? 250 for each?

Tell him it's $195.00 a pop for standard "site cloning procedure", but you'll do all 3 for $295.00. Easy money. He thinks he's getting a bargain, and you're a great guy. You might run into some technical issues. Might have to do a little work with the authorize net merchant back end to make sure it's all running smoothly, but basically you'll be working for $100.00/hour.... not bad at all.

I agree with this. I usually charge $50 per page for simple pages but since you are mostly just uploading premade sites to new domains $295 is a fair price. It might be simple to someone who knows html but to someone who knows nothing its worth a lot.

yeah I can pretty much ask whatever I want since he has no knowledge of websites but I do not want to rip him off and he doesnt have a huge budget so that seems like a fair price to me to... already sent him the proposal and hoping he is good with it and we can get it started today... 300 for a couple hours works would be nice...

Always is plus he's going to think you're a hell of a guy for giving him such a great price. Win Win.

Jokes aside - make a baseinstall for all the domains, drop all the modules/addons amd themes to the appropriate place, click "Restore", edit the Information he wants changed and ask for le cheque
