Lack of backlinks - what to do? Advice needed.

I have 2 sites with a lot of backlinks, but virtually no traffic. Can anyone advice, what to do?

Are you tracking how your site ranks for a list of keywords?

You don't seem to be up with SEO.

Not all links work this days.
Secondly, you might have been penalized.

I suggest you review your back link strategy and upgrade to 2012.

Check your website stats on majestic seo and use "site:" on google to see whether it is still there on google or not.

You can get 50,000 links on fiverr for $5 but that's not going to help you rank in Google. Ranking is about a lot of good links that Google likes.

Use google analytics like programs. To see where the existing traffic is coming from and what keywords. Keep track of your keywords' rankings. Optimize your site for the keywords that bring good traffic.

I've checked my site in google and it is still in there.

There are many factors involved in ranking like onpage:content,navigation,load time,site authority and offpage:backlinks, social signals etc.

Now you need to check your site to locate the problem. Your site ever ranked for your desired keywords? I mean it lost rankings or it never ranked for main keywords. May be you need some more niche related backlinks, for this check your niche competition. How your competitors are getting backlinks. Checking their backlink can give you a chance to get backlinks from same or similar sources.

Not a lot of backlinks help you to rank, but the Quality Backlinks from various sources do help a lot..

ok, I understand that quantity is not a quality and the consequent question is where to get quality backlinks? could you, guys, share some links, please? I have some backlincks from good sites but they are not enough.

1 - Analyze your competitor links ( Top 10 in google )
2 - Check your own links
3 - Beat them by having more in number ( same type ) and no Spamming

And don't ask for traffic unless you are in top 3 in first page. Finally, this is all is useless if the keyword doesn't have traffic anyway

Are a lot of those backlinks keyword-based? If so, you may have been Penguin-ized. Not a penalty, but an algorithm smackdown.

Social bookmarking isn't going to do anything. You need good high quality backlinks on pages with actual PR. That is the only thing I have seen to work these days. Also anchor text diversification is important. There is a lot of bad advice here from people that I'm fairly certain do not know what they are talking about. No offense intended.
