Im new to IM and this question just pop to my mind :

It is illegal to promote fake content Ex : Keygens, Generators, Beta Keys with Cost-Per-Action (CPA) Incentive / Non-Incentive Offers.

Example :

Creating A Landing Website promoting a Fake generator (saying that it works), then putting a content lock of a CPA Network with a offer before the download. When the user finally download it, it just don't work. No Virus or Malware just don't generate real codes.

It is considered illegal or just bad online karma :

Appreciate Any Opinions.

Edit : Im talking about hosting this on united states servers, it would be different if people host this type of content on offshore hosting ?

Besides being unethical it's a licensing violation as well so you could get a C&D letter.

Are you a lawyer?
It's just unethical and the CPA networks MIGHT ban your account in the worst case...

Simply said. Just think about it. Offering to promote keys as an unauthorized dealer and then screwing them over with false advertisement? I'm pretty sure that's illegal, at least where I live. Not exactly sure what type of punishment you'd receive, most likely a slap on the wrist with a ban, but regardless it's wrong.

Are you a lawyer?

Definitely not a lawyer, but it seems to me you are promoting something to steal that YOU KNOW does not work. Sounds like legally they could get you on fraud for promoting something that you know that does not work. Also, sounds like they could get you for aiding and abetting theft by promoting a software that helps them steal software or the codes to make it work

Like I said, not a lawyer, but something to think about.

There's any law that actually punished any of these actions, cause i have seen youtube, facebook completely spammed by these types of methods and youtube only bans the user or take down the video ?

Easy work around, Create your program let it display a system error in the end. You have to present no one with your source code and thus it would remain at just unethical, Get caught remove it for update/maintenance. Send out a message cancelling project.
Or
Make a broken link to the download.

Funny!
If a newbie says what the OP suggests, he gets told it is a bad move.
Didn't see many complaints in this thread: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/facebook/389669-fb-secret-how-i-bank.html
Of course, there was a part two to this: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...7-heads-up-beware-facebook-their-lawyers.html

If a Mod suggests something with superbowl, he isn't told its a bad move either. http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...7-want-make-4-figures-watching-superbowl.html

OP, you are not playing nice but if you can sleep at night....
Just be sure to cover your tracks, both directions. You are not the first to use this method, nor will you be the last.

Personally I think it is not right to do but at least with this scam you are not taking money out of someones pocket.
I like the twists given by rickydzine though. :$ That way they keep on trying.

Im just asking this question cause i have seen many people trying this method with popular CPA's Content Lockers and Paid Per Download sites such like Sharecash and fileice, i have notice that sharecash is worrking since 2008 and people are still using this kind of method in there.

Clearly unethical, questioning the legality hmmm, definitely not needed.

Karma isnt gotta hunt anyone down for anything. its pure bs. I know people who stolen my money and living good life. as long as you not infecting a person with any viruses/spyware or doing fraud its kinda ok to go. basically you not compelling anybody to do anything. its thr wish to complete offer or not if they wanna get a piece of app. but the thing is if they see something after completing your offer, they will spread the word to friends maybe. else if they feel ripped off, they will go and report u..so best to try out fake related things with relatively less risky networks..my 2c.

I'm going to speak on this. Isn't the CPA company responsible for this. For example Pay Per Download sites are made up 98% of this stuff and the owners know it. Couldn't we blame the owners of these PPD's such as Sharecash and Fileice for not enforcing their TOS. They know exactly what their affiliates are doing and yet do nothing.

nigerian scammers are really good at this. i don't know if they can define ethics/law or something since everyone has to survive by any means. at least that's how i see it nowadays considering nigerian ip's are sources of scamming including ewhoring.

I think those companies don't enforce their TOS until they need it, cause pretty much all of the users will be banned and their business will go down. Then when they get some Legal complain they wil screw the active users.

Just my opinion, i know this is a unethical method im just trying to know if any legal action can be take.

Pretty sure its fraud

Noun

  1. Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
  2. A person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.

And as far as I know Fraud is illegal.....

It boils down to if they want to pursue you and the punishment but I am no lawyer either.
