Hi, I am a major MMA fan. I have trained off and on, I also wrestled for about 15 years and currently coach. I have good knowledge of MMA and extensive knowledge of wrestling. I am wanting to start an MMA website, but I want it to be unique. I have a solid idea for how this site will be different from others. I am looking for experienced partners, as I have had a short IM career and haven't been successful enough to brag. I have a super limited amount of money I can put up considering I am a college student with a child. I can make up for the money through hard work and of course my solid idea. I am looking for not only experienced people but also those who know about MMA and/or have extensive knowledge of any one discipline in MMA.

Its quite a bad idea to give out the Niche you want to target...

I am looking for not only experienced people but also those who know about MMA and/or have extensive knowledge of any one discipline in MMA.

I doubt that people who are experienced SEO and knowledgeable about MMA (You don't have to be knowledgeable about a topic to be successful within this Niche) will contact you... Because whatever your idea is - As you stated yourself you arent the most succesful Internt Marketeer nor do you have any funds/money - you got an idea plus you could write some articles and thats pretty much it... Any partner would have to pay for everything and do all the hard SEO work by himself - if that would be me i'd ask myself the questions - Is this worth it? Can't I come up with decent idea myself? You can guess the outcome of these questions...

I'd suggest you ask a mod to kindly remove this thread (so you won't attract more competitors than there already are...) - and try to implent this idea of yours by yourself - that way you will learn (if you work diligently) how to succesfully promote a website...

I am not sure why him posting he wants an MMA blog is a problem, its like saying I want to create an insurance blog... there are dozens if not more sub niches within that niche and in reality you may rank an mma blog if you are not a fan but you wont get a whole lot of traffic if you dont know about the sport and the corresponding styles that succeed in the sport as well as the moves etc...

Anyway I digress, OP it is not clear what you are asking. I am an MMA fan and have been since UFC I, there are some guys on this board that have rank in BJJ that are good at SEO, and I do SEO full time. But no one knows what it is you want.

Like someone else said, its not a terrible idea to just give it a go yourself. I would like to say, that starting a site about something you are passionate and knowledgeable about is a good decision. Most newbs give up early because they pick a niche for money and when they dont make any in a few months they give up. If you pick a niche due to interest you might stick to it until you start making a few bucks.

Look around the forum for ideas and strategies and you will be well on your way.

I've ran some MMA sites before.

Don't limit your thoughts as to what is possible. I often emailed fighters and got an exclusive interview from them, then spammed it on Sherdog etc forums.

EDIT - And while I'm thinking about it, get into the local shows in your area. I often used to get free press passes to events, I was right next to the cage, could of touched the fighters I was that close. Just find the event promoter and get to know them, if they post on a forum hosted by that event, join and start posting. Ask him if it would be OK to send an interview to one of the fighters.

Sure the UFC won't send you a free ticket,, but lots for the smaller shows will. Meet the promoter face to face when you get there, interview fighters who are there watching, then do an event review on your site bigging it up, take lots of pics and stuff.

Go to the local fight team's gyms in your area, do articles on there training facilities, watching them roll and stuff.

Remember, the promoters want you just as much as you want them, they can hook you up with lots of freebies to give anyway on your site, t-shirts, posters and all that.

One inside tip though, don't have you camera flash on during the rounds, I fucked up once and left it on (it's OK between rounds), they were fighting right infront of me, the fighter on top in the guard lifted his head up and I flashed him right in the face.

That I can assure you was a very awkward 5 minutes....eek.

There are 100's if not 1000's of MMA blogs, I am pretty sure I'm not going to be the Neil Armstrong of the MMA niche. That said I did write that I had a unique take on it, but did not disclose that information for good reason.
