So I need to make a lot of waffles for this weekend (people coming over and such).

I'm fine with most of the ingredients, except the milk.

Reason for that is because after doing 50+ waffles, milk will add a nice dent in the budget. Can I substite milk for something else? and if I can, will it lose the flavour/quality?

I'm a prep cook, But I'm the last person you would want to take cooking advice from!

Waffles without milk isn't the same. The taste is gone if you avoid milk. I can't think of a better alternative.
Soy Milk?

LOL.

I guess I need to find wholesale milk.

Im a cook, by name and by hobby! Anyways lol, since you are just using it to cook with, use powdered milk. You will get a whole lot more for your money, and it won't affect the taste any. :)

The powdered milk is not that good. Although it's easy on your pocket, but doesn't have same taste. As they say, "for getting something, you have to sacrifice another".

Cheers :)

I never tried the powederd milk.

Big difference in taste?

I heard 1/3 cup of powdered milk, and 1 full cup of water, to make 1 glass of milk.

ALSO.

Since milk is 89% water
Can I just do....

(instead of 2 glasses of milk)
2 glasses of water, with a big of butter (for cream-ness), and maybe an egg on top of it for the protein and stuff?

Yes, but the taste is only really a noticable change if you drink it straight. If you use it to cook, it doesnt change anything :)

I would go with evaporated before I went with powdered. If you use evaporated milk as a whole milk substitute, you have to add equal parts can of evap milk/can of water. With that said, I wouldn't skimp for company. I am an avid cook and baker, and create my own recipes. You should stick with the milk, or make something else. Are you doing a breakfast or a brunch? Why don't you make crepes? Very easy. Just swish in the bottom of a frying pan, flip and you're done. Then fill with whatever you prefer. It will be a lot less milk used and cheaper than waffles. 2 cups of flour and 2 cups of milk are only going to yield you maybe 8 smaller waffles, or 4 big waffles.
