Hi All BHW, first i must say happy new year 2013.

Ok, back to topic, is there any method(s) or trick(s) how to know, what SEO techniqu that used by my competitor, so he can rank their website on the 1st google page?

please give me advice

There is no trick, just use any backlink research tool and find out the backlinks of your competitor.

You may also check backlinks to his backlinks as many webmasters do tired linking these days.

You can see all their on-page SEO by simply looking at their website.

You can download their backlinks using Ahrefs or MajesticSEO and find out their linking patterns. Most important part in to analyse backlinks that go to their backlinks so you can get the whole structure.

You can analyse their social metrics (retweets, facebook likes, etc) with Ahrefs or SEOMoz tools.

Do it with top 3 ranking sites and look for common patterns. Then, try to replicate it and see if your ranking moves up.

Also, when you look at top 3, keep in mind that besides commons patterns you are looking for something that keeps #2 on top of #3 and #1 on top of #2. In other words, what specifically #1 is doing (or happen to have) that #2 doesn't that makes them rank higher.

AHrefs is very good.

LRT (Link Research Tool) is good but expensive

Majestic SEO can give you historical link snapshot (that is rate at which links are built / link velocity etc.)

OSE (Open Site Explorer) is priceless.

Many thanks for your advice, but the ahrefs is paid and for free member just can do 10 query per day, and wanna try majestic SEO

you can not know what techniques they are using but you can know for sure what tools they are using by using their website.

i think you can only find out their back links , other methods can't be find.

You can spend time reverse enginerring his link profile to see what is going on but if they are using a tiered structure like this http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...site-google-2-hour-video-tutorial-series.html then your pretty knackered.

I would suggest grabbing all of your competitors back links and slowly working through them so you share similar but not identical link profiles to those already seeing success.
