Tonight I made a plan of a network of websites of sites.

The Concept:

1. A set of targeted sites, covering different luxury niches. All will have very similar themes, A bit Pinterest style to keep em updated easily without writing / buying to much content. The single sites differ in small things like the color set and a bit modified logo. All sites are interlinked. The names / domains of the site follow a strict structure. Once they all are live and filled with content i will show them off here. The content will be links to luxury products of the sites themes and sometimes an article about some of the brands between them.
2. One main site on a .net domain which let you choose your luxury interest and will direct you to the networks site that fitsnthat interest, plus a Forum that gets the new posts from the single sites automatically streamlined into fitting sections to discuss the shown products.
3. After the remarkable brand concept gets recognized and the searches for the "brandname" of the set of sites are starting to increase, i will change the product links to affiliate links.( this means i will analyze GA data for branded searches)

The following niches will be covered:
- Jewelery
- High end skincare
- Niche perfumes
- Expensive things in general
- Expensive techy items
- Gourmet tasty things

Will update you with every interesting details.

Good luck with building up the network, there is always a secure source of buyers for quality and high value items and products similar to what will be showcased in your luxury niches!

Trust 2013 will deliver sales and profits that meet and exceed you expectations:cool:

It is a well known fact, that even in times of war rich people keep spending money.

Luxury is one niche that never dies, even in rough times.

So the last days the basic setup has been done.
I had the branding for the complete sites setup in mind while this process.

Here are my steps:

1. Installed all 7 wordpress blogs on the branded domains (will show them later when every site has content on it.) from an initially created setup and installed alle at a bunch by copying the database dumps.
2. Gave each site one color scheme, but the same structure.
3. The Logo is the same on each site, but reflecting the websites name and the current color set.
4. Created Social Sites on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
4. Created one main site as "central" for the network. The main site will be setup as "lifestream"-type of site and contain a forum. All status updates of all social accounts will be posted here automatically , as well as excerpts of new blog posts of the networks and new forum topics. This site contains also the forum for this network.

I used my own modified version of pinster, a 45$ themeforrest theme. for the main site i used an elegant theme which is rebuilt to act as sitestream, cathcing up all new posts from the network + forumposts.

Best of luck!
Also let me know of you need my help :)

I update each site on its own. I always ran into problems with multisite so I made myself the extrawork to each site splitted up clearly.

Thanks for your hints Jimmy.
I won't use categories and just one or two tags per post.

The content will be mostly just links to products that are fitting to each sites topic and here and there a long article between it, as I won't have the time to update 7 sites with fresh long written articles.

The concept is not to do SEO on this sites, but grow them naturally by their sort of site. It shall be simply fun to browse through extraordinary products for the particular niches. First half year or so, I just will let them gain trust and build a readership. After this has been achieved I will replace the links with affiliate links, just to get the azon or whatever cookie into their browser.

So, when you put up a products from amazon, what content are you using... the same from amazon or rewritten one.

Also, can you tell me what plugins are you using.

Thanx
P

Okay here we go! Today I finished the setup of the sites and I will disclose them now. Let's see if I can trust this community.

The Websites:

Melting Pot + Forum: http://thisisvery.net

Network Spokes:

http://thisisverytechy.com/ For techy gadget and related items
http://thisisverytasty.com/ For gourmet things
http://thisisveryexpensive.com/ Expensive goods
http://thisisverybeautifying.com/ covers skincare and beauty niche
http://thisisveryniche.com/ High class perfumes
http://thisisverybling.com/ For jewelery
http://thisisverychic.com/ For fashionable things

I will update those with fresh & adorable things for the next months without any aff - links.
If you want to write & publish something with your aff - link, you are invited - just pm me.

The social presence I built:
Twitter: https://twitter.com/ThisIsVeeery
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ThisIsVeeery
Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/thisisveeery/

It is hard to cover all those sites and social presences. Will update you how it goes.

From a technical standpoint I use many features of the jetpack plugin (all the social share this and stats). The melting pot uses wp-o-matic to update itself with the content from the blogs and the social net. For the widgets on all the sites i used the Widget Data - Setting Import/Export Plugin. For displaying a unique widget on all the sites for the manufacturer, price and link to purchase per item i use the A Graceful Sidebar Plugin.

Well done...

Quick question: why the warning about being careful/smart with the categories and tags?

Please explain why they might be an issue... Or how they might.

Thanks,
Jax

I think jimmy ment not to overdo the keyword thing. But I try to get the traffic over social networks. So far every site gets about 10-15 Uvs over Social Networks ( all but the very niche site, it has the most content about 100 UVs per day.

Just moved over to a faster server. Holy, it is really time consuming maintaining 8 blogs with content and the server stuff... Did not thought it will be like that.
All blogs are at 10 - 20 UV per day, but This is very niche is steadily at 100 UVs per day(most content). For the other blogs main traffic source is Twitter. Will try tumblr promotion over the weekend and let you know.
Some aff links have been placed here and there.

Pagerank Update: The whole network - each site gots a Pagerank of 2 (from 0)
