How Are You Keeping Your Books?

I use QuickBooks. I was an accountant when I had a day job, so I do my own taxes with TurboTax. It is a seamless system, and QB interfaces with my bank, so I can just download my transactions.

I have been using MS Accounting Express, its free and obviously integrates well with MS office. I cant wait to send google an invoice must get cracking.......

I use Peachtree for 3 different businesses I have and love it. After you you figure it out, it is very powerful, and you can pick it up for free if you watch for mail in rebates, and yes, then have sent me the rebate check every time. I would also strongly suggest a good CPA, interview them, ask your banker for which one they prefer, and if you do not have a personal banker working for you, get one of those too. You need to act like a business and get the benefits that other businesses are getting.

Well I own 2 S Corps, however I formed the first during last quarter of last year and the second just a week ago.

I figured Quick Books will solicit you to use TurboTax. What I might need is a well crafted spread sheet to balance my P/L (that way I can take it to my Tax Attorney and have him really "balance" it).

I'm doing close to 5 figures a day ; )

if you're doing $10k a day then just hire someone to do your books!!!

I use quickbooks pro for the books, quicken for the taxes and a custom program that I designed for my overall client management to work between the two as well as my cart systems.

I'd like to hear how you guys are keeping your books for your income expenses, taxation etc.

Any software recommendations?

I use QuickBooks Pro, but I have a bookkeeper to tie up the loose ends on a monthly basis. The bookkeeper understands how my CPA wants to see the information and it's fairly seamless.

It seems like Turbo Tax is the way to go, but I wonder about the fact that I've heard that people who use TT get audited more than if you use a service. And, since probably at least SOME of the income might not be ((cough cough)) reported, wouldn't this be more risky?

Personally I would also opt for Quickbooks Pro. I use it myslef for quite some time, and my experiences with it are nothing but positive. Sure it is quite expensive to buy, but believe me that it's worth the money you pay. Allows you to save a great deal of money on accountant fees.

I will agree with majority of people in this thread. Quickbooks Pro is the way to go. I have a copy of it on my computer as I do bookkeeping for a few different companies. I can track different companies easily. It does make it a snap when preparing income tax returns.
