Is it safe to acces my personal emails while connected with VPN like HMA or others ?
Is there any risk someone in the network could have my email password ?
A VPN provides encryption only up to their server. So it will encrypt all data between you and their server preventing snooping on your local network and ISP. It does not stop server -> actual end point encryption. A VPN will decrypt the transmission on their server and send it as normal. If you need to encrypt your data between your computer and the server your sending/receiving from you should use SSL/SSH.
So, if I check my personal email inbox while connected with HMA VPN, is there any risk that my password could be sniifed or viewed by someone? Is that more risky than checking emails without any VPN ?
Thanks

If you use SSL/TLS while connecting to the server then your password is safe as that provides an end-to-end encryption. If you're just using a standard login (no SSL/TLS) then a VPN will prevent sniffing from your computer to their servers (so wifi/ISP/other ISP customers). Between their servers and your email server is still unencrypted.
The only way to encrypt your entire transmission is to use an encryption algorithm that the server supports.
As an add on... the VPN encrypts your comp to the VPN server. So if someone is trying to hack your computer or server or ISP then you're good. Once it leaves the VPN server though it is unencrypted so it can be sniffed (and I suspect the popular ones are).
But it does make it harder for people to attack you personally. People sitting on the other servers can still catch your data
