Anyone own a succesful E Commerce business?

I wish people like you who know exactly what is selling well and how to go about it would come up with business consulation business so that one can pay for your expertise and not be fooled into buying or trying something new without a clue.

You want me to be honest? It would be a great idea to do that. But the best business advice that worked for me, is I don't listen to the bullshit posted on forums like these. I'm not saying everything people say on here is bullshit. But there is a lot of people on here desperate for money, & will say what they can do get that money, whether it's providing SEO services or traffic, etc.

You need to find a business owner who knows about making money, who makes money, real money. & who is willing to take you under their wing so to speak.

I followed a successful business man, I learned from him, he taught me so many different things that I wouldn't have learned on my own in a lifetime.

Now, he is one of my clients, I work hard for him & all of my other clients, and now we bounce ideas off each other. We make each other money. You have to think like a business owner. I didn't pay countless dollars to people desperate to make money, I learned from the best, & now I am where I am because I chose that route.

I supply my services to real companies, I don't provide them "10,000 guaranteed real human visitors", I provide them real results where the majority of them are making anywhere between $20,000-$40,000 per month off of what I do for them.

Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I'll be happy to lead anyone who wants to learn down the same path I went.
By the way I'm not selling anything either. I'm offering free advice if you want it.

I'd be interested to pick your brains.

How much would you be willing to pay? Everybody wants something for nothing.

I somewhat agree with what you're saying. There was a time when I was very successful in the serps and didn't need to go black hat. I have helped friends start businesses and make money. I know what I'm doing and have been doing it for years. However, and this is a big however. What you're saying is not an across the board rule. There are exceptions. It depends what the person is selling. Sell something dominated by major corps and chains, and the rules change. I have "listened to the bullshit posted here" because some of the things posted have gotten me results. I have to get black hat to compete in the serps.

I understand 100% of what your saying. & you are correct. I didn't mean it like everyone or every seller here is out to scam or the methods they sell don't work.

There are some people here who can provide results & know what they are doing. Now I am all about giving people a chance, but the main reason the majority of these members are here is to learn how to make money, so when they figure out an idea that worked once for them, it doesn't mean it will work for you.

Maybe I'm wrong, just my personal opinions of what I have experienced & seen.

The select few, you sound like a select few that I will be following from time to time.

Its good to hear someone that actually talk sense and not out to make money or show off their muscles.

I appreciate the kind words. I agree with you except for one part, I am out to make money. Just not off of here, & not off of these members. I own a business, so there is no need for me to ask for money here. Instead I would rather just bring some insight on things I have learned.

Beyond in-site tips for the process, what have you experienced e-commerce sellers noticed works well for getting new customers hitting the site? Emails, paid, CPA, CPV, FB, etc?

I would love to hear about this also...

I have a few sites. It really boils down to having all your ducks in a row. I am lacking on some SEO skills which is why I am HERE !

I have a successful E commerce site, the profit is really good. The only hard part is moving them and consistent traffic

I've been running an e-commerce site (powered by Magento) for the past 4-5 years. I rank highly for the main keywords associated with the niche and I find the levels of traffic and conversions to be growing steadily at all times.

I trialled PPC for a few months but found that writing great blog posts on the site and interacting with customers via social networks gained the site some really valuable links that increased traffic and sales. I also contacted bloggers in my niche and provided articles and ran competitions to spread the word. This had a positive effect via the social sites as well.

Magento as an e-commerce platform is perfect for me. Although it can be difficult at first, once the knowledge is gained, it's fairly straightforward. Magento Connect offer a great range of extensions (free & paid) that can improve performance, SEO and other aspects of your store without spending a huge amount.

SEO on Magento is decent straight out of the box. URL rewrites, canonical tags, meta descriptions are all easy to configure and input. Performance can be improved by enabling caches, .htaccess and cleaning up templates, images and CSS/JS files. If anyone has any further SEO strategies when it comes to e-commerce, I would love to hear them!
