Event Promotion Question

Hi Everyone,

I have a client (a martial arts school) and the owner is going to be having a tournament in April 2013.

I have been asked to help promote this event online in order to get as many participants as possible.

Was wondering if any of you have promoted something like this before and what methods you would recommend.

Geo locate it and you'll do fine. I'm assuming you don't really want to target people half way around the world because it's unlikely they will show up.

Yes you are correct. The event is going to be held in New York City. Therefore I want to target the tri-state area.

Can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by "geo locate it"?

Select keywords that you know will show up for the area.

I'm from chicago so for example I could do something like "North Side Chicago Martial Arts" "West Side Chicago Martial Arts" "South Side Chicago Arts" and other variations.

I haven't been on adwords for a while so I can't give you much more info lol. I'm pretty sure you can set it up to target your area, if not, you can use the keyword idea I said above.
