So, I have been getting a lot of questions lately with the topic "How do you build a good authority site?". To answer each and all of you I have decided to make a guide for it on bhw.

Authority blogs are THE way to go if you want to build a succesfull site with a lot of steady visitors. Google loves authority sites, your posts will get indexed in seconds (yes, you've read that right), and your site will climb in the serps naturally as time progresses. Now please excuse me if you find any grammatical errors, as I'm not a native english speaker, but I hope you can follow me.

To start building your Authority site, and thus your brand you should create a unique logo for your site, along with atleast a Google+ (important), Facebook & Twitter account. Include your URL on all of these accounts. Add a follow/like button for all the networks on your site to get more followers etc. Its as simple as that.

Now what google likes about your Authority site is consistent posting of new content. I usually post an article of 500 words in the evening. I have been doing this for about 3 months now, and my articles get indexed in a matter of seconds. Google knows it can expect new content daily, and I have the whole day to think of a subject to post an article on. Keyword density should sit arround 1-2%, and you can vary your posts with images, video's, bulletpoints etc. If you are unable to post daily you can just write all the posts for the week at once, and then schedule them to be posted day by day.

When you have published your post you should post the url + description to your Twitter, google+ and facebook so your followers can instantly read your new content. The more followers and likers you have, the more independant you become of google traffic. Submit your site to all kinds of directory's like Technorati, DMOZ and other directory's in your niche. Make your brand really pop up everywhere you can. Create a web 2.0 blog about your site, but don't link to it. Just mention the name of the blog in it like: The xxxxxxxxx blog wrote a nice guide about xxxxxx. Google is getting better and better to see brand recognition, so you shouldn't exclude this.

It is also important to submit your website to google and Bing webmaster tools. It will help you to show any errors on your site, and you can submit your sitemap to them. This one is especially important for Bing, as it usually takes long before they index a link.

You need to treat your authority as real estate, and you will see that it will grow as the more posts you add to it. The bigger the site gets, the better it will be protected against negative SEO or bad links. Just make sure that you always post unique content. Vary the lenght of the posts as it will look more natural. Do some posts on 400 words, some on 500, some on 800 words and even some on 1000+ words. You will see that the more and the bigger the content is you post the higher it will rank.

As for SEO, I wouldn't be too concerned. Don't expect to get above 100 visitors daily within 2 months, but after those 2 months you will see a huge increase in traffic. The key in this is to be consistent. It is also important that you create helpfull content that really answer the questions people are looking for. If they have read your post they need to think "now I finally know the answer to the problem". Only then a post is valued as helpful. When your site become's big enough to get a manual review by Google employees, they need to see that the site is really helpful, and not some content created to rank.

As for content, I can really recommend that you create some helpfull "how to" guides for your readers. People are keen to share this with their friends as people like to be helpfull, and their friends might have the same problems. Infographics are also a good way to get some social interaction. Social interaction will play a big part in the future, as it is really a true factor to see if people are liking your content, and talking about it online. And NO, buying followers and likes doesnt help you in any way as they do not interact with other accounts, because they are fake.

I have probably forgotten some things as im a bit in a hurry, but you can ask me any question you want. I will answer it as soon as possible, and perhaps some other people will know the answer too. I hope this guide has helped you in some way!

Its a shame that no one takes the time to read this. Follow this and you will make money, you cant fail with this

No problem guys!

What a nice post!
I want to make an authority site some day!

I'm in to Authority Sites aswell and it's just feels so much better to create valuable websites as you say johandr.

A tip is to convert your already existing MNS to an AS, write crazy amount of articles and follow the steps stated by johandr and you will soon see a reliable income heading your way.

Thanks for your post, interesting to read some more informative content about auth sites. Although I think what you say is right, I believe you are missing on something really important.

"As for SEO, I wouldn't be too concerned. Don't expect to get above 100 visitors daily within 2 months"

Interesting joke.

So you are saying not to be concerned about off site seo? and you wont get above 100 UV/day for 2 months?
Interesting theory dude.

Your theory is right, you gotta take care of your site each and every day, however, you must not forget about off site seo... both techniques together can definitely give you the boost that you want.

/e: also dude, if you are going to name your topic "ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUILD AN AUTH SITE"... make it count, make it nice, readable and be 100% sure that your content is legit and can be named "ULTIMATE GUIDE", because I believe there are other users with tons of experience in the area who have posted far better guides and they do not claim them to be "ULTIMATE". Anyways, just my thoughts.

Thanks for sharing! Great information there. I see you are not a native english speaker so I'd like to ask about articles/posts? Do you just write them yourself or do you hire someone write them for you? I'm not native english speaker myself but I really like writing and would like to start making authority sites with lots of articles and content. I just fear my text/articles drive people away because they could see that the authors native tongue is not English.

Although this is true, my point of view was that you shouldn't be bothered with SEO in the first months of building your site/brand. The rankings will come from itsself when building an site with a lot of content added daily, and it looks really unnatural to google if your site is receiving a lot of backlinks, but not that much visitors?

Let me clarify myself: People are letting google have acces to all the details of the webiste. They are placing Google Adsense, Webmaster tools, Analytics, ETC. Google can track EVERYTHING they want about your site. And let me tell you, its not normal for a website with 50 visitors daily or to receive 500+ backlinks in a few days or something that you would get with most of the services provided here in the BST section. If you are going to do SEO, wait a few months till you have a steady visitors base and then build backlinks to the inner pages (posts). This should be done slowly and I advice to do it in steps of 5 or 10 backlinks, and then to slowly work it up.

Naturality is all that counts, and google is getting smarter everyday

I make a mix of it. I buy articles, but I do also write them myself. From my experience it doesn't really matter if you aren't a native english speaker. If you have valuable information that you are sharing, and people are getting your point, or what you are trying to say, then its not a dissapointment for them to read my articles. Its all about helpfull content, if you are helping people they will like your site.

Thank you for your guide and help....I am building site and planned everything almost same....I had one business site which was ranking very high for very very competitive keyword but panda hit it and right now it has drop way back...

So building a new site is one of my experiment to build authority site and then bring back the site which was hit because i will well equipped by experience....

As for SEO, I wouldn't be too concerned. Don't expect to get above 100 visitors daily within 2 months, but after those 2 months you will see a huge increase in traffic.

From my personal experience that is not true. I have 2 sites and both are 2 weeks old and one gets 50v/day and the other gets 300v/day. You just have to pick a niche with lots of searches monthly afaik.

I started an authority site about 8 months ago and was posting on it very consistently as well as constantly growing my facebook and twitter following and getting niche related links from other sites. At about 5 month in I began to see around 50-100 visits per day and I decided to buy a SEO service from BHW forums. For a while my site increased in traffic consistantly and at its peak was getting around 300 visits per day and suddenly it dropped to 40-60 visits per day and I realized google penalized my site. They didn't completely take it out of the search, but I would only get a fraction of search traffic.

For a while I tried getting some good authority links toward my authority site and get it back in the rankings, but it just wasn't happening, so I quickly gave up on over 6 months of work. I looked into the SEO service I was using and it ended up just being a bunch of spam links probably just from senuke or something, but it definitely made my site take a hit and I don't know if it will ever recover or if I should start over on a different URL.

Don't make the same mistake I did! Build web 2.0 links like mentioned above and don't blast a bunch of spam at your site. In time the harder work will pay off.

I agree, the best links are still built by yourself. You know best whats good for your site, not some SEO provider who doesn't give a shit about his client's sites and who gets 50+ orders per day

is all about content if you have unique and long content you are the winner.

and also i think the best thing is doing correctly on-page seo and build your link manually and be patient.

and finally thank you for this awesome post :)

Hey, thanks for this guide, just gave you reps :D I've been trying to follow something similar. Just a question, do you write content on any topic that comes to yur mind or do you do proper keyword research and then write posts based on them?

I go to google adwords, type in my primary keyword and then I check the related searches option. This will get you all kinds of keyphrases that are related to your main keyword, so you can go on forever.

Doing something like this for one of my affiliate sites. Buying all my content and then using Black SEO and linkbuilding to rank the pages, seems to be doing well so far.
