Just noticed that the OP launched the site selling some service to boost/socialize original "flippa" listing ! I read the full thread and I agree with all the guys (except OP) that he is gonna get a lawyers letter very soon - but then I am really surprised to see OPs confidence about it - may be he's arrogant and ignorant, still he seems to be very very confident ! What can be the cause, only retardness ?? This thread reminded me having a dropped domain from godday auction with "wordpress" in it, soon I realize that it can bring trouble and while I was searching a way to get rid of it - I got a mail from the previous owner (he got my mail id from whois) that he accidentally let the domain go expired and now want to get it back ! I got an offer 5 times the money I paid to buy that domain and just happily handed over to that guy. He seemed did nothing on it except a plain page with some hosting affiliate offer - not even changed the default WP theme ! Now, this time the OP is in same situation - would love to see how he goes with it

I suffered my first domain lawsuit in 1999. The Plaintiff (check guarantee company) wanted $500,000. 2-1/2 years later, $80,000 in Attorney fees and $80,000 settlement for the dilution and confusion of the trademark and the case was over. If the OP or anyone else thinks as long has he doesn't sell websites or doesn't create a similar website to Flippa he's protected you're dead wrong. There are typically 3 spokes to TM infringement and the one he can't get around is why would he purchase a domain like Flippa if not to try and leverage traffic purchased or earned by the real Flippa? Of course there is no reasoning and thus he fails and is guilty of using an aged and unique Trademark for commercial gain. Anything he earns or Flippa argues they lost in revenue he now owes Flippa.
Don't screw around with TMs. I used to think I was educated and knew all about them back in 1999. I remember telling my wife there is no way they can touch me for freedom of speech should protect me. I wish I had that $160,000 back plus all the time wasted while I sat in depositions and filling out interrogatories. Before sounding so foolish OP I suggest you consult an Intellectual Property Attorney that will point blank ask you if you've lost your fricking mind. Trust me on that one.
I see Flippa just suspended your account tonight so it looks like you've gotten someone's attention.

EASY PARK IT FOR A NICE PROFIT untill you get a Cease and desist letter if you actually get one.. or even better Senf a letter to Flippa apologizing an let the domain die redirecting it ot the right TM owner in the mean time..

Also your business idea is very stupid who the hell would pay you any money to tweet and post to your random followers? There is a reason why it costs more on the actual "flippa.com" website because they have real followers who are looking to buy a site on "flippa.com". Only a idiot as dumb as you would purchase your lame service and your sales copy and overall site design is so weak. Please keep us posted as to what happens, lol.

There is something called a "Flippa Ball" which has its own site. Urban Dictionary has as a definition of "Flippa" - a southern term originated outta Houston TX to describe a nice car. I don't think the name "Flippa" itself is wholly-owned by that site. As long as you don't copy the Flippa site in theme or content you could draw a benefit from the name with a different type of content. Instead of just tossing it.

You bring up an interesting point.
Flippa even has a page about selling trademarked domains and notes that some are usable under the fair use trademark law, which states that words that originate from a culture (Wikipedia gives "apple" as an example, for Apple, Inc.) can be used but words that are fabricated (such as Kodak), cannot.
Since the term "flippa" appears to originate from my hometown, I could create a website with the term "Flippa" in the name and use it in a way that adheres to the cultural meaning, so I could have a site about nice cars. However, I couldn't make a site that competes with Flippa, as this would breach the "confusion" portion of the law that allows the law to be interpreted based on whether one site may be confused with another because of the use of the trademarked name.
But since he mentioned selling websites and domains in the OP, he would be breaking the trademark law on the basis on confusion.
Also, your link returns 0 results, but that's because you can't link directly to the results page. I found 2 live trademark entries for the term "Flippa," but I can't link directly to it because it then returns 0 results.
