$20 per hour is not much... it's like the average american.

Anybody doing this stuff as a full time job should do better than that.

Depends: if you just want my exceptionally enjoyable company, just a beer or two is enough - if it's about job, then, well... no clue actually, haven't considered that ever.

It is so variable. The work I do in IM is usually anywhere from $10 to $40 but I do stuff around my home for as little as $2 per hour. Example: I make my own tortillas. It takes me about 20 minutes to make enough for my whole family which works out to about $3 per hour of saved income but my tortillas flake like a fine pastry which the store bought tortillas never do.

If you have more time than stuff to do it is silly to say that you won't do this and that because it's not worth your time. Sometimes it's better to learn a new skill and save some money doing it than pay someone else to do it for you.

Another example: a while back I realized that the people from high school who are now mechanics were also the ones that were in special ed. Why pay these people $50+ per hour to fix my car for me? Since then I've done all my own mechanical work. My hourly wage of saved income is pathetic because I am so slow most of the time. But I'm getting faster and my pride in myself is through the roof.

The bottom line to me is that if it betters me as a person it is worth my time. I also have a lifetime goal of being like MacGyver so things that are worthwhile to me might not be worthwhile to others.

Depends on what I'm doing, but for regular website modifications, updates or light programming work I usually charge around $30/hour. The thing is, clients don't usually care about the money and pay you almost anything (reasonable) if you fix the problem. So don't sell your time cheap.

It's all mostly invested from the business stand point so it's somewhere between $0 and $1,000+ per hour.
