I'm planning on setting up my first MNS. And I was wondering, if micro niche sites do indeed enable their owner(s) to earn a steady income, why are there SO many MNS services that design websites FOR you? Why don't the providers of these services set up 30 or 40 of these websites and set up a passive income stream?

Good questions.

Why dig for gold when you can sell shovels ?

The days of MNS are long gone IMO, if I were you I would research yahoo answers for a need/demand.... and find a way to provide that product or service for a profit.

If you indeed would like to go down the passive income through website content route... then I would probably go with "wasted" and buy 1 authority site and hire "veheme" to do the SEO.... but we are talking about a $3k+ investment here. But as we say in IM... Google is a harsh mistress. You could invest $3k and have a kick ass site that generates you $5K a month after 3-6 month...and then 2-3 months later be exactly where you started -minus $your investment ... and the only ones that has something to show for are those smart people that have sold you their services! #RealTalk

Interesting! Thank you for your eye-opening post. That answers my question really well :) I was under the impression that MNS are still a viable money making option. Yeah... that kind of investment does seem a little steep since I'm still just a student.

Still though, I was hoping for two to five bucks a day from an MNS, after a month of working on that MNS. Is that not doable?

Also, the people designing the sites may only design for certain niches as to avoid you being their competition.

Or if they do design in the same niche, they must be confident that it's an extremely tough niche or that they already have done a ton of SEO and it would take you a painstakingly long time to be their competitor.

And similar to what IamNRE said. Most of the people who got rich in the gold rush were the ones renting out the tools to dig for the gold ;)

Ah yeah, they certainly wouldn't want more competition from their clients :)

Eye-opening... still a turn-off though.

No problem. Glad to be of service.

I guess it is possible, but I would do it so that your domain was not dependent on ranking in Google.

i.e Maybe set up a domain (or buy a micro niche - make sure its a hungry niche) and then hire someone to asks questions related to those keywords in yahoo answers and pick your answer as the best.... with 5-10 good questions/answers ranking on first page you can easily get 100-200 visitors coming to your site via yahoo answers ... that can probably generate you the $5-10 if the ad placements are well optimized. Or even by posting comments on high volume (targeted) videos on youtube :)

But if you are 100% focused on ranking the site on google.... then you will get your hands burned eventually by one of its black/white animals (penguin/panda).

Good luck on your journey.... may you live in interesting times.

Don't be puttin' them chinese curses on me! :-D Seriously though, thanks again, and I'll definitely keep your advice in mind while attempting to set up my site properly.

Now you've done it!

A few months ago when I said that on a thread, people who still owned micro niche sites, and people still promoting them started frothing at the mouth
