Websites taken down: please help me to understand!

5 of my websites have been closed down recently.

2 of them were hosted on US hosting, 3 on offshore hosting.
All paid hostings.

Strange thing is that I haven't received any communication from my webhosts or domain providers.
For both of them, all sites are as normal. But if I type the addresses they simply do not exist.

Only common denominators: they were all .info sites registered a NameCheap and were about Facebook cheats so I suppose it's them!

Is Facebook so powerful that they can shut down DNSs of a website without even request webhost to shut down the site themselves?

I can't even delete the domains as for NameCheap to delete them they need a request such as a C&D which never happened.

What can I do and what have happened?

My guess is that this won't help as all would look to them as if that domain were not pointing to their nameservers.

I believe the issue is above them, as if these domains have been blacklisted and made disappear from the net.

But I don't understand how the hell this is possible!

IMO, the problem is your registrar. ask namecheap.

Correct, try to point them to a landing page or something and if that doesn't work its on Namecheap who is loved by spammers unfortunately.

NameCheap responded.
It looks like the domains have been put on hold by their .info domains registry, so they cannot tell exactly why.

If I want to know what really happened, I need to write to one of their legal that will contact the .info registry and ask information on my behalf.

Now: provided that I don't care of those domains, provided that if they decided to put them down I am sure I won't have them back, I am not sure what to do next.
Should I leave it or should I ask for more info, to see at least what happened?

I am very concerned of the concept of a domain put on hold.
What does it mean? That they will do further investigations and come after me or if I leave it go that would evaporate?

Most likely spam reasons... registrar has the right/responsibility to suspend domains that were actively phishing/spamming/etc ..based on ICANN Rules.

IF YOU were not the one committing those actions... the site (on your WEBHOST) was probably compromised.

Due diligence my friend, due diligence. Owning a site is very important.

Spamming is what I would think it is too. I'm not saying you were spamming. Like the above poster said. It could be due to your site being compromised.

I didn't accuse the OP of spamming! I said "if YOU were not the one committing those actions... then the site itself was compromised"

Leave it up to him to decide whether or not he was. Geez

Probably not spam related, most likely trademark related and IP attorneys now go to the governing authority of the TLD. Much faster and much cleaner than dealing with Registrars and web hosting services. Those domains are gone.

It also depends on the names of your websites. If they had anything remotely close to facebook in them, then chances are this is why you had them pulled. Big companies such as FB, Google, eBay, etc... spend millions of dollars a year to try and esure no one is trying to make a profit off of their branding.
