Rewriting WSO for product creation?

Has anyone ever re-written a WSO or took the basic content, put it in your own words, gave it a new title and called it your own?

Are there any legal repercussions to this and would anyone recommend this a viable way to create a product (at best) or at worst a giveaway on a squeeze page? Basically I'm just wondering if it's acceptable or "common practice" or even legal to rewrite a WSO when creating content/products.

not a good method for long period..
use it to submit in web 2.0 maybe usefull but need a lot of editing..
if you rewrite then sell it, you think how much you can earn from it?
1 people who buy your product and saw that it same as WSO he have buy,
"your-product-name"+scam+100% scam article will be out immediately..
then, your expected earning from your rewrite product = $0 loss..

Using it as a giveaway for a squeeze page is quite common since they are usually very basic. You can try to sell it but it's not worth the effort unless you have a good sales funnel and offer it as a OTO (one time offer).

The thing is almost all WSO's are rehashed from older WSO's so don't worry about it. In terms of being legal, it is legal as long as you do not copy it word for word. You wouldn't be able to use the graphics either unless you changed those as well.

Plus Roxiea's example isn't exactly right. Most people who buy WSO's read it and think about all the money they will make (of which only 5% will take action) or they will completely forget about it. Now you might have a couple of people recognise it from some other WSO but other than a bit of anger they wont do anything about it, at worst they will complain get their money back and forget about it.

In the unlikely hood that the owner finds out he may write an article calling you a scam but if your smart you could just outrank the article. Or you could just rehash another WSO and continue the cycle.

See, this is what gives WSOs a bad name in the first place. You want to re-write a WSO about a method that you probably have not even tried, then sell it by claiming you made money with that method. And we wonder why everyone says WSOs are crap. Try the method, apply your own twist, make some money, and then maybe you'll have something fairly original and worthwhile to write about.

I have done it and used it as a freebie to get new subscribers.Most WSO authors rip their ideas from this site than they or their writer creates a fluff report,they add some screenshots,create a few videos and BAM!!got a product that sells on WF.There was a newbie on here asking how to make money I sent him a quick plan of action 3 weeks later there is a WSO very similar to the method I PMed them.Makes you wonder about all the newbies showing up here asking for help.

Arent most WSOs just rewrites of other ones? I swear only like 1% are original..

I have to say this on this subject if you notice most WSOs have NO copyright and I doubt the person who made it applied for the copyright.

Garbage idea. Please avoid it because already WSOs have a bad name for their poor quality, and you're further lowing the standard by rewriting a WSO.

Of course it's a garbage idea, the point is it works. It's like found money on the ground, even when used as a freebie to draw people to the more valuable paid product.. If you knew for sure there were a few 100 dollar bills in your garbage can, wouldn't you sully your hands by going in to get them?

Most WSOs are just a more elaborate version of a re-write, with the lifted ideas or text being also turned into audio files, videos, PPTs and other media. WSO's are going to stay garbage whether or not BH people cash in on their share of the loot or not. So reach down into the garbage and pull out those 100 dolllar bills!

I was wondering if it would make sense to do this and create a membership site offering these methods to your members. Charge your members X amount a month and provide them with rewritten WSO methods.
