I'm about to start an all white hat SEO campaign, I'm just wondering what methods some of you guys use to convince other webmasters to link to you. I was thinking of offering them a free social media SEO campaign or a in depth audit of there site and if all else fails a link back to my money site or second/third tier domain. I'm not very good at crafting compelling letters convincing people what I'm offering is actually worth there time.So this project might be a little tough for me. So if any one could give me some advice on how to get them to agree I would really appreciate it.

Not only guest posts but blog rolls, sponsored links, image links from relevant sites basically one way ******** contextual backlinks from TLD's.

Yeah what exactly is the context of writing to these webmasters?

Have you worked with them in the past?
Are they using your content?
Do you want to publish content on their site?

You want blogroll links on an all white-hat campaign? OK then.

You're going to quickly find out that those sites with blogroll links are either high authority and are linking to other high authority websites, or are just selling the space and will expect you to do the same and buy them.

I'm just trying to find the most effective way of convincing website owners to link to my site. I understand some owners sell a majority of their backlink space but I also know that some would link to you with out any cash at all. The blog rolls are just an example , I'm basically talking about links that you actually have to contact the site owner via phone or email. Not links from web 2.0 sites or sites that already have been spammed to death.

You're gonna have to offer them exceptional then. Look at their website and think "what is going to really impress/be of value to this webmaster and their users"

What is the PR you're after? What is teh Alexa rank you're after? What is the niche you're after? Good blogs/sites come with a price tag, bad blogs no one wants. You can have louds of blogrolls with high PR for five bucks (each) but these are the sites with high Alexa. What is the point in doing this? Maybe short term authority increase untill Google find out about those sites and lower their rank.

Bigkapp,

Guest posting may be one of the most effective ways to do this. Also, if you generate content on a regular basis for your own site, try linking out to any sites that have content you may reference. This may take a while but website owners that see you linking to them will return the favor; especially if they are in the same niche.

There are some other good suggestions here,

Hope that helps,

Just getting links isn't going to be difficult, mate. Offer them a short review or add them to your partner list, and most decent folks will reciprocate in some way.
