Pages still indexed from the old site

I am not sure if this is the right section, but anyway. I bough aged domains and built some sites on them, but there are still a lot of indexed pages from the old domains 80+, what should I do with them ? 301 redirect them to the main domain, submit removal request in webmaster tools ? If I do 301 redirect, will they disappear from the index after time when google sees that the pages are redirected ?

This is a great question ivanpenev,

Redirecting those old domains may depend on whether you can find similar relevant URL's on your current site to redirect them to. Generally, you would want to redirect all of these old domains because these are opportunities to drive more traffic to your site. Also, if those old URL's are ranked well, you want to take advantage of that. However if the meta descriptions for those old URL's have nothing to do with a similar page on your current site, you may not want to redirect the page. If they do, try and redirect every URL to a similar URL on your current site and not just the home page. This will make for a seamless and pleasant user experience.

Pages typically don't disappear from a search engine's SERP's unless it is requested that they are removed by the URL owner or if people stop clicking on them. Generally, they will be there for a long time.

Pages typically don't disappear from a search engine's SERP's unless it is requested that they are removed by the URL owner or if people stop clicking on them. Generally, they will be there for a long time.

Old pages will generally be removed on their own if the page goes to a 404 error.

Thanks for the answers to both of you. About the meta descriptions, at the moment I can't see if they are similar, because while the sites were built, the privacy option to not index the sites was checked, because I didn't want the new pages to be indexed, I usually do that and after I am 100% sure that they are ready I let them to be indexed. So for the old pages there is no description it shows "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt" I unchecked that do not index option 2 days ago, so it must change soon.

I will use Scrapebox to scrape all the indexed urls and see if there are some that are similar.

I wouldn't say it is solved, but thanks. I decided to remove the pages from the index with webmaster tools. I faced another issue, one of the sites is indexed both with www and without www which is strange it hasn't happened to me before. How can I fix that ?
