.us is practically a waste, especially for domainers.

You still need to pay renewal. Unless you monetize it the domain becomes a burden as selling .us is next to impossible.

Thanks! I got the first coupon code just in time and it looks like someone else claimed the second coupon code too. Wait... WTF? They charged my PayPal for it even though it said it was free??

Yes I got charged as well. I even selected the 1 year registration instead of 2, and it said my balance was 0.00. I have a ticket open for 2 days now without an answer. Their nameservers also take FOREVER to update.
Well, here I am an hour later after getting off the phone with domain.com support. I guess they're having problems with the free domain names. The person I spoke to said they are forwarding my problem to their billing department so I will get a refund and (hopefully) have the .us domain name as well.
