So I lurked around on the forums for awhile and finally found something to try out for myself. The biggest tip I could give to anyone lurking the forums trying to find something to make money with: Just do SOMETHING. If whatever you choose doesn't work out just move to the next thing, but don't get in a rut like I did, waiting for the perfect thing to come along. YOU have to make the perfect thing come along for yourself, so just jump right in and get experience, there are way too many free tools at your disposal to do nothing at all.
My current plan is to create a popular Tumblr site and monetize it for a decent amount of money daily. I don't have a certain dollar amount I'm trying to reach, this journey is mostly just for the experience. Without further ado, here goes.
Day 1
I purchased a Visa prepaid gift card to spend on Paypal. I was going to go a completely different way to try to earn money, but alas, you can't use Visa prepaid cards on Paypal. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I found something a little different: Tumblr. I'm sure all of you know what Tumblr is and know very well that this isn't groundbreaking stuff, but I did realize how great it was for a noob like me. I created my blog and bought a domain to match so it looks a bit better. What's so great about using Tumblr to do this is the fact that I only had to purchase my domain, and not hosting. I began adding images to my blog that matched my niche. I then set up a queue, which lets you upload as many pictures as you please and set how often you'd like them to be put onto your blog. My blog currently automatically posts eight pictures for me everyday, all I have to do is find the pictures that fit my niche and upload them to the queue.
Day 2
I decided to go ahead and add some ads even before I received much traffic. I went with plugrush since I'm in an adult niche. With correct placement ads can actually make your site look more professional instead of the opposite. I continued adding pictures to the queue, always trying to get ahead just in case I have to go a day or two without adding more.
Day 3
I received some traffic from a friend I told the site about. I quickly realized I needed to spread the word somehow otherwise I most definitely wouldn't be earning from the site, but how could I? I didn't want to spend any money for advertisements, so I brainstormed. I found an amazing way to get a pretty great amount of traffic for free. If I get my site off the ground I'll share it with you guys. The first day I began using it I got about 84 visitors, not bad since I only ran my ads for a couple of hours and I didn't really have to do much to maintain them.
Day 4
Plugrush had some kind of maintenance so I only received about 62 visitors despite the fact I ran my ads pretty much all day. I received an email from them saying that they would refund any money I had lost within the few hours in a couple of days. This wasn't really a big deal in terms of money since I probably lost less than 20 cents, although I would like to know how many visitors I actually received.
Day 5
Here we are in day 5, you are now caught up with me. So what am I doing today? Simply running my ads from morning to night to get a rough estimate on how much traffic my method brings in. I will also try to grow my Twitter account that is based on my website. Of course I will also continue adding pictures to the queue. I have made 30 cents over this past few days, and 4 followers on my Tumblr. My plan is to continue growing my blog until it is the top or at least one of the top blogs in my niche. I will keep you updated on what I do and how everything goes. I tend to do everything I can as cheaply as I can while still keeping quality a priority, so this journey should bring about a few interesting techniques and tips.
